“Ms. Thompson, could you move? They’re serving the food.” Quinlee pulled Ellie to the side of the boat before she could
react.
Someone bumped into her from behind, making Ellie lose her balance and fall into the lake. With a loud splash, she couldn’t call for help before she hit the water.

Late at night, at Jaslands Hospital, Alex, completely soaked, refused to leave Ellie’s bedside.
In the hallway outside the hospital room, Quinlee approached Diana cautiously. “I’m sorry, Diana. It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have wanted to try something new by inviting everyone for a meal on the boat.”
“It was just an accident. Nobody meant for it to happen. I’ll stay and wait for the results. You all should go home first,” Diana said, her eyes worriedly fixated on the hospital room door.
Lacey gave Quinlee an annoyed look. “Ellie was already scared of water. She finally got on the boat, so why did you pull her so hard?”
Quinlee bowed her head in frustration. “I did pull her, but not hard. It was the waiter who accidentally bumped into Ms. Thompson.”
“Since nobody wants to see me, I’ll just head back,” Quinlee said, turning to leave.
Nalani answered the phone and left. Just then, Diana saw Aaron hurrying over and quickly stepped forward to greet him.
“Aaron, I-” Diana began, but Aaron had already pushed open the hospital room door and went inside.
Diana stared blankly at the open hospital room door, her words caught in her throat.
“Diana…” Lacey gently tugged on the zipper of Diana’s bag. “Aaron is just worried about Ellie. He didn’t mean to ignore you.”
Diana shook her head. “Lacey, you should go home. I’ll call you when Ellie wakes up,” Diana said as she guided Lacey into the elevator, and then returned.
Diana didn’t go into the hospital room; instead, she sat on a bench in the hallway, waiting for news.
“Don’t worry, I’ll send her home right now.” Beside the bench in the hallway, Aaron gazed down at Diana. “It’s late, go get
some rest.”
Diana sat there without moving. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have taken Ellie to such a remote place. I’ll leave after she wakes up.”
Aaron looked down at Diana and said, “As an adult, you should think ahead before doing anything. You took Ellie to such a remote place late at night. Now that something has happened, do you think saying sorry is enough to fix it?”
Diana suddenly stood up, tears of frustration welling up. “I already said it wasn’t on purpose. How about I stand on a boat and let you push me into a lake to make up for it?”
Seeing Diana’s teary eyes filled with frustration, Aaron felt helpless. “I’m not blaming you. I want you to understand that in the future, whenever you do anything, you need to…”

“You’re not my dad, so stop nagging me!” Diana interrupted Aaron irritably.
“There’s no point in scolding me because I won’t change. I’m not leaving until Ellie wakes up!” Diana stated firmly.

rest in the nurse’s room.”
As Aaron was still speaking, Diana obediently wiped her tears and entered the ward. Aaron was speechless.
In the dim corner of the hallway, Quinlee watched from a distance as Aaron made a call to Diana’s father, her face twisted with fury.
