Ellie emerged from Carlos‘ room, her spirits at an all–time low.
“Let me take you to your room,” Alex said, his eyes filled with concern.
Ellie glanced at the suitcase in Alex’s hand and nodded silently.
At the top of the stairs to the second floor.
Alex watched as Ellie headed towards the room she had stayed in before. He steeled himself and stepped in front of her. “Not this room,” he said.
Ellie looked at Alex in confusion and asked, “Is someone staying here?”
Alex felt a pang in his chest. He wanted Ellie to stay in the room next to his so he could be near her. But if he let her stay there and she regained her memory, she would hate him when she found out Haley had stayed in that room.
After a short pause, Alex stammered, “You haven’t lived in this room for a long time. You’ve been staying in the west master bedroom since you came back for your internship. Let me show you.”
Seeing Ellie’s hesitation, Alex half–pulled and half–coaxed her to the wes
master bedroom.
At the top of the stairs, Evan, the housekeeper, said worriedly, “It seems that Jason can intimidate Mr. Warren. He took the initiative to send Ms. Thompson to the west wing.”
Nancy couldn’t bear to watch and said, “He’s feeling guilty. He’s afraid that Ellie will hate him to death when Ellie gets her memory back.”
Alex pulled Ellie into the bedroom. It was indeed a girl’s room, with simple curtains and beddings in Ellie’s favorite rural style. Ellie came to the bedside and picked up the cartoon doll that Alex bought her when she was a child.
Memories came flooding back. She remembered that on the night before she went to Jinerity for college, she wanted to hide this cartoon doll in her suitcase and take it with her, but Alex found it.
That night, she pressed the doll into the suitcase and wouldn’t let Alex take it away. Alex grabbed one of the doll’s legs and said, “If you can’t bear to part with the doll, then don’t go.”
She thought about it and decided to leave the doll behind. She had to study medicine. She desperately wanted to cure her father’s leg.
On the day she left, Alex’s eyes were red with anger and he called her “ungrateful“. For more than three years, she didn’t dare to contact him, and he didn’t contact her either because he was angry with her.
Their eyes met and Ellie looked away discreetly. She pulled her suitcase into the bedroom. Just as she was about to lift it up, Alex got there first.
Alex placed the suitcase at the foot of Ellie’s bed and said, “Ellie, I want to have a good talk with you.”
Ellie stood still, frowning at the suitcase on the bed. The Alex in her memory was extremely arrogant and conceited. ‘Wify is
he being so nice to me now? Something must be wrong. I’d better listen to Aaron and be careful.’ thought Ellie.

Alex stood beside Ellie, watching as she bent over to take out her clothes from the suitcase one by one. The emotions in his eyes surged violently and his gaze involuntarily fell on her slender waist. He couldn’t help but gulp.
Remembering that crazy night in Jinerity made Alex’s blood boil. His breathing unconsciously became heavier, and his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. He couldn’t help but move closer.
“Ahh!” Ellie turned around and was met with Alex’s undisguised gaze, so frightened that she gasped.
