Chapter 398
“Ellie, slow down.” Alex watched as Ellie sprinted away, faster than when a dog was chasing her. He caught up to her in the hallway and stopped her again.
The more Alex tried to get close to Ellie, the more flustered Ellie became, dodging his every move.
“It’s not what you think,” said Alex.
Alex grabbed Ellie’s wrist and pulled her towards him. Startled, Ellie quickly broke free and said, “You don’t have to explain. I understand.”
Men all had their quirks. But Ellie couldn’t accept the doll wearing her clothes.
“No, you didn’t.” Alex was getting anxious. “The doll was naked when others gave it to me. I saw that you two were about the same size, so I put your clothes on it.”
Alex continued, “I was just holding it while I slept! I never use it.” He stumbled over his words, getting more and more flustered. “I mean. I put it on the bed, but I didn’t do anything else.”
Alex met Ellie’s gaze, which was filled with a mixture of shock and disgust. He took a few deep breaths to calm himself down. Finally, he lowered his voice and pulled Ellie towards his room. “Come back to my room with me. I’ll explain everything
“I’m not going to your room! Let go of me!” As soon as Ellie heard that Alex wanted to take her to his room, she started to struggle, pushing and yelling at him to let her go.
“Stop!” Alex chased after Ellie to the top of the stairs, only to be slapped back by Nancy.
Alex covered his face, hopping mad. “Mom, my face hasn’t healed yet! Can you stop hitting me there?”
Nancy pointed a finger at Alex’s nose and said, “You little rascal! Don’t forget about the hole in Rusba Mountain. Get back to your room!”
A few minutes later, Alex was back in his room. He stripped the doll of its clothes, stuffed it naked into his locked safe, and secured it with three locks before finally relaxing.
After changing into dark pajamas and blow–drying his hair, he held Ellie’s dress in one hand and a phone charger in the other. He stood outside Ellie’s door again. “Hey, I’m going to get you something to eat. I’ve left the charger here.”
After knocking for a while with no response, Alex hung the charger on the door and headed downstairs.
Close to nine in the evening, Alex propped his phone up on the kitchen counter, following a video tutorial on how to cook noodles.
In the living room, Nancy, Todd, and Evan watched Alex busying himself in the kitchen, their expressions a mix of
emotions.
“Honey.” Nancy remarked, “We’ve raised him for over twenty years and he’s never even given us a glass of water. Now look at him, playing chef.”
Todd remained silent.
“That’s great, Mr. and Mrs. Warren. It shows that Mr. Alex Warren knows how to care for a woman,” said Evan.
“Even if he does know how to care for a woman, Ellie won’t want him.” Nancy couldn’t bear to look at Alex. She dragged

Chapter 398
Todd back to their room.
“Mom, take this to Ellie.” Alex stopped his parents with a bowl of noodles in his hands.
Nancy stared at the noodles made by Alex and said sarcastically, “Oh, you’ve done a good job.”
Alex pursed his lips, automatically ignoring Nancy’s sarcasm. “Mom, Ellie has hypoglycemia and hasn’t eaten anything tonight. Please help me take it to her.”
Seeing Alex’s pathetic look, Nancy took the bowl of noodles and muttered a curse.
