Chapter 407
Alex was neatly dressed in a business suit, sitting in an office chair, spinning a pen in his hand, and focusing on the screen. His assistant, Chris, was taking notes beside him.
Ellie walked over to Alex’s desk and saw his injured leg in sweatpants. The cuff was rolled up to his knee, with his foot resting on a small stool.
Ellie couldn’t help but frown at the contrast between his formal upper body and casual lower half.
She squatted beside Alex’s leg, opened the medical kit quietly, and listened to him switch seamlessly between different languages. Carefully, she used scissors to cut off the messy bandages on his leg.
Alex sat upright, conducting the meeting with a straight face, occasionally glancing at Ellic.
He watched Ellie quietly tending to his wound, with her head bowed docilely, and he casually spun the pen in his hand.
With a soft “click“, the pen fell to the floor beside Ellie.
As Ellie picked it up, Alex leaned over.
In the confined space between the desk and Ellie, their eyes met, and Ellie handed the pen to Alex.
Seeing Alex took it, Ellie felt relieved inwardly.
However, before Ellie could relax, Alex’s lips suddenly pressed against hers.
The unexpected kiss shocked Ellie, making her eyes wide open.
Alex shamelessly deepened the kiss while Ellie was still stunned, then quickly let go before she could get angry.
Chris was puzzled by Alex’s smug expression after Alex picked up a pen.
Ellie, still squatting beside Alex, covered her mouth and looked up at him.
Seeing Alex sit up straight, Ellie unconsciously licked his lips, feeling both annoyed and embarrassed, and her face turned red down to her neck.
But Alex was still in the middle of a cross–border video conference, so Ellie had to hold her anger in.
She quickly packed up the medical kit and tried to stand up, but Alex grabbed her shoulder and pushed her back down.
While speaking fluent Geromina to discuss contract details, Alex secretly took out a lipstick from his pocket and tried to give it to Ellie.
As Ellie pushed his hand away, he began to touch her face.
Ellie couldn’t take it anymore and pushed Alex hard.
In the next second, the wheeled office chair smoothly sent Alex sliding to the other side of the study.
He was in his formal business suit on top, but his lower half was in sweatpants with one pant leg rolled up and a bandaged calf revealed. He was even holding a lipstick.
Chris was completely stunned as he watched Alex slide backward in the chair.

The cross–border video conference was still ongoing, and everyone’s attention was now on Alex. They felt quite surprised.
Without looking back, Ellie hurriedly left Alex’s study.
As soon as the meeting ended, Alex was the first one out. “Where is she?” he asked.

“Mr. Aaron Thompson came by, and Ms. Thompson went downstairs,” Barry replied.
“What’s with Aaron always coming here instead of going home? What’s the deal?” Alex grumbled.
Seeing Alex leaning on the wall and hopping toward the staircase, Barry instantly followed him closely.
“Help me get down there,” Alex said impatiently, tapping the railing.
Alex thought, ‘Ever since Ellie came back, she has seemed to be avoiding me, reacting as if I were a thief every time I tried to get close.
‘But I was scared to fall from the second floor and broke my leg.
‘I can’t do anything easily. How could I chase Ellie?
‘Why does Aaron keep showing up to see Ellie? He is really the biggest obstacle in my pursuit of Ellie.’
Down in the garden, Ellie was talking with Aaron when she saw Evan and Barry supporting Alex from a distance.
“Aaron, let’s go over there. He can’t hop over,” Ellie said, pulling Aaron toward the artificial pond.
