“Why didn’t you answer any of my calls?” Limping and holding the railing at the stairway, Alex glared at Ellie.
“I was busy,” Ellie casually replied, trying to brush past Alex to head back to her room.
Without warning, Alex wrapped his arm around Ellie’s waist, pulling her into his embrace.
Startled, Ellie instinctively pushed him away. “Let go of me,” she demanded.
Alex tightened his grip, with his eyes landing on the small medical box in Ellie’s hand. “What’s in the box?” he asked.
“Acupuncture needles,” Ellie replied. Then, she wrenched herself free and made a quick escape.
“I’ve been waiting for you all day. How could you avoid me like I’m a plague?” Alex said.

Just after Ellie took a few steps away, she was tightly grabbed by Alex from behind. The more she struggled, the firmer his grip became.
“I called you a thousand times today, but you didn’t pick up once You’re so heartless,” he accused.
“Come to my room. I need to talk to you,” Alex added, his voice dripping with suggestive intent, which made e feel her face heating up and her heart racing.
Trying to shrink away from his lips, Ellie said, “Can you let me go and talk?”
“I want to hold you,” Alex replied, with his voice lowering unconsciously.
He pressed their bodies close together and said to Ellie, “Come to my room. I really need to talk to you.”
“No way. Just say it here,” Ellie insisted, remembering all too well the embarrassing moment when she had been caught by Barry with Alex on top of her.
“Really not coming?” Alex lowered his head, resting his chin in the crook of Ellie’s neck to inhale her scent.
Ellie’s body tensed up because Alex flirted. “No,” she said firmly.
Before Ellie could finish, Alex swept her off her feet, carrying her toward the master bedroom.
“Alex, your leg is still injured. Put me down,” Ellie screamed, clinging desperately to the stair railing in horror.
After she came back to the Warren Manor, she noticed that Alex was acting even more flirtatiously toward her, and his gaze
seemed almost feverish.
In a panic, Ellie opened the small box in her hand, took out a needle, and stabbed it into one of the acupuncture points on Alex’s body.
The next second, they both tumbled onto the floor in the hallway.
‘Before Ellie could get up, she watched in horror as Alex rolled down the stairs without any sign of struggle.
“Alex!” Ellie shouted, following Alex down the stairs in a panic.
Alex!” She found Alex lying on the floor with his face bruised, his eyes wide open, his mouth twisted, one hand splayed outward and the other clutching the ground. She was completely stunned.
Regaining her senses, Ellie quickly squatted down and checked him over.

Chapter 410
She tried to adjust Alex’s mouth and hands back into place, causing Alex to cry out in pain.
Ellie was so scared that she broke into a cold sweat and collapsed onto the floor.

The acupuncture point that Marvin had taught her today was supposed to make a person faint instantly if hit correctly. But Alex’s condition clearly indicated a stroke–like symptom.
Ellie wondered, ‘Did I hit the wrong point?‘
Everyone in the house rushed out at the commotion.
Seeing Alex’s twisted face and splayed hand, Evan slapped his thigh in shock. “Mr. Warren, what happened to you?”
Todd looked at Alex and turned beet red with anger. “Good–for–nothing. He can’t get himself hurt by others, but he sure knows how to mess things up for himself.”
Nancy looked at Ellie, who was sitting paralyzed beside Alex, and asked in confusion, “Ellie, what on earth is going on with him?”
Ellie was too shocked to respond.
