He moved his face closer to Ellie’s neck and whispered, “Ellie, thank you.”
Lately, Alex had seen her heartbroken, saddened, and exhausted over his grandfather’s situation. He ached for her but couldn’t get close.
He continued, “Ellie, if you just give me a chance, I’ll give you everything I have.”

The next morning, Ellie woke up feeling warm. She frowned at the sight of Alex, who was fast asleep, holding her in his
arms.

She had been too exhausted the night, and she didn’t expect that he had climbed into her bed.
Trying not to wake him, Ellie lifted the blanket to get out of bed but suddenly felt a tug on her waist.
“Ellie,” Alex mumbled in his sleep, unconsciously snuggling closer to her and calling her gently. Ellie froze, struck by the familiarity.
She remembered that since she had arrived at the Warren Manor, everyone spoke kindly to her, but he never did.
He had never treated her gently. He always gave her orders in a mischievous way.
“Ellie, let’s get married,” he murmured. It brought Ellie back to reality. She carefully covered Alex with the blanket, got out of bed, and went to freshen up.
She had to admit that Alex left her feeling flustered.
Although she couldn’t remember what had happened between them, she always remembered Aaron’s warning.
Until Ellie regained all her memories, she wouldn’t give Alex any response.
It was barely eight o’clock when Ellie hurried out the door.
She needed to head back to the Thompson residence before going to the Griffith residence to thank Ryker with Aaron.
She also had to take care of Carlos at the hospital and let Alex’s parents come back to rest.
“Quinlee, are you sick? Why are you coughing so badly?” In the afternoon, while Ellie was in Carlos‘ hospital room, she received a call from Quinlee.
Quinlee had called to ask about Carlos‘ condition, and Ellie could tell from her voice that Quinlee was ill.

She said that Quinfee had been running a fever for several days and was now delirious. They were worried that something might happen to her at the church, so they called the most recent contact on Quinlee’s phone.
“Give her some fever medicine, and I’ll come get her right away, Ellie said.
Remembering that Quinlee had mentioned at noon that her sister Winnie was too busy to pick her up, Ellie decided to drive to Sheahow Church alone to get Quinlee.
“You stop right now. Do you hear me?” Alex called Ellie and finally got through.
Hearing that she was on her way to Sheahow Church, he shouted into the phone in frustration.
The call was cut short, and without a second thought, Alex rushed into the changing room, ignori his injured leg, and came out fully dressed.
“Barry, take some men and head to the Harwood–Jaslands Highway intersection. Stop Ellie,” he instructed, grabbing his car keys and heading out.
“Mr. Warren, your leg isn’t healed yet. You can’t go out,” Evan tried to stop him at the entrance of the living room.
“There’s a thick fog on the Harwood Highway tonight. If she goes up there recklessly, what if something happens?” Alex pushed past Evan and stormed out the door.
Ever since he heard Ellie say she was driving alone to Sheahow Church to pick up Quinlee, he had this strange, uneasy feeling in his gut.
