After a sleepless night, Ellie woke up a bit late the next day.

Alex pushed past Barry and hopped on one leg to Ellie’s side, saying, “I’m going back to the Thompson residence with you.”
“It’s not convenient for you to come with me.” Ellie tried to dissuade him.
However, Alex was determined to accompany her.
They tugged and pulled all the way to the staircase before Ellie suggested thinking it over and going another day, which finally made Alex let go and allow her to go downstairs.
As Ellie descended the stairs, Quinlee happened to enter the living room.
“I’m so sorry, Ellie. I shouldn’t have called you to ask about Carlos‘ condition and let you know I was sick,” Quinlee said, naturally taking Ellie’s hand.
“Actually, I could have held on. People at the church were afraid of taking responsibility. A girl called you while I was asleep, using my phone, and got you into danger.”
“Nobody wants these kinds of things to happen,” Ellie replied.
“If it weren’t for Mr. Warren showing up in time, I can’t even imagine what kind of terrible things might have happened. It’s all my fault. I’ll formally apologize to you another day with a proper dinner,” Quinlee said.

After the incident, Ellie had many doubts in her mind and didn’t believe in so many coincidences.
But she had seen the news that on a foggy day in Harwood, there indeed had been a gang–related car–smashing robbery.
She had calculated the time and compared the locations, which finally dispelled her doubts.
“Ellie, I heard that Mr. Warren was seriously injured while saving you. May I go upstairs and visit him?” Quinlee’s voice brought Ellie back to reality.
Ellie looked up at the second floor and met Alex’s gaze.
She was the fiancée of Orion, though he had passed away many years ago.
Nancy’s attitude toward Quinlee had improved and she was allowed to visit the Warren Manor at anytime after helping with Carlos‘ matter.
But Quinlee’s relationship with Alex was not close enough to allow her to visit him in his bedroom.
“Ms. Janssen, we are close enough that you can visit me in my room? News to me,” Alex said, standing by the upstairs railing and looking down at Quinlee with a condescending and sarcastic tone, leaving Quinlee too embarrassed to respond.
Alex shifted his gaze back to Ellie and said, “I’ll wait for you to come back for dinner.”
His voice was gentle and cautious when he spoke to Ellie as if he were a completely different person. With that, he hopped- back to his bedroom on one leg.
