Late at night, the doors of the Warren Manor’s living room remained open, surrounded by complete darkness. In the still and shadowy room. Alex’s heavy breathing and Ellie’s trembling pleas were particularly clear.
“Alex, let me go!” Ellie’s lower back was pressed against the entryway shoe cabinet, trapped in Alex’s embrace as he kissed her feverishly.
He had nearly succeeded in the cat, and now, after finally making it home, he was at it again. When Ellie felt Alex’s large hand ship under her shirt, she was so startled that she almost screamed.
Suddenly, with a click, the entire living room lit up. Every movement came to an abrupt halt.
Ellie remained pinned against the shoe cabinet, her hair in disarray. Most of her blouse buttons were undone, and her strap had already slipped off her shoulder.
Alex’s head was still buried against Ellie’s chest. One hand grippel Ellie’s waist tightly, while the other remained inside her shirt, his breath ragged. Seeing Nancy standing nearby, her hair hessy and disheveled, he froze in place.
Ellie summoned all her strength and shoved Alex hard. The next second, Alex was sent sprawling onto the floor. In a frantic parc, Ellie bolted upstairs–only to step on Alex’s groin.
A bloodcurdling scream erupted from Alex as he clutched his lower half, rolling on the floor in agony. Nancy covered her face and quickly turned back to her room.
“What did that brat do this time?” Todd, hearing the commotion, stepped out of his bedroom–only to be pushed back inside by his wife, her hands firmly over his eyes.
The next morning. Ellie refused to come out of her room no matter what. It wasn’t until nearly noon, when Alex texted her saying his parents had gone out, that she finally dared to go downstairs.
Recalling the awkward scene from last night, Ellie smacked her forehead in frustration. As she glanced around, she suddenly noticed that every vase in the house had been filled with roses.
“Amelia, why are all the vases filled with roses today?” Ellie asked.
“Ms. Thompson, it was Mr. Warren’s order, Amelia replied. “From now on, all the fresh flowers will be roses. He spent the entire morning arranging them himself.”
Hearing this, Ellie frowned. “Where’s Alex?”
“Mr. Warren is upstairs arranging flowers,” said Amelia.
Ellie turned and headed upstairs, searching from Alex’s study to her own room
She finally found him in the sitting area, dressed in dark loungewear, carefully trimming the roses in his hands.
When he stayed home, he always dressed casually. His short hair unstyled and falling slightly over his forehead, softened his usual sharp and imposing presence, giving him an unexpectedly gentle, almost husband–like aura.
“Let me handle this, Ellie said, crouching beside Alex’s legs. She took the scissors from his hands and placed the remaining roses into the vase.
Seated on the sofa, Alex gazed down at her intently.
