Ellie stared at the kitten. It was so small and clearly expensive. Its slow, elegant and proud posture made lile unconsciously think of what Alex looked like when he was a teenager. “Alex, this kitten is just like you when you were young”
Ellie blurted it out, and Alex pulled her into his arms and tousled her playfully. Ellie covered her long hair that had been messed up by Alex and hid on the other side of Carlos
Alex came over and squatted beside Carlos’s wheelchair. ‘Grandpa, are you feeling better today?”
Carlos gave a weak nod,
Alex pointed at the cat. “Grandpa, could you give me some advice on the best place to build the cat’s nest?”
Carlos’s blurry eyes scanned the garden, and his gaze landed beside the greenhouse he had been taking care of for decades, “Build it next to the greenhouse. It’s more solid there?
“Sir, it’s time for your medicine. The butler came over and wheeled Carlos back to his room.
“I’ll buy the materials. Another day, we can build the cat’s nest together,” Alex said, pulling Ellie into his arms after Carlos left
“Great! When we get married in the future, I’ll take care of Grandpa’s pots of orchids, and you can feed this little cat beside
me.”
Hearing Ellie’s gentle and expectant voice, a flash of emotion passed through Alex’s eyes. He unconsciously held her tighter. and his low–pitched voice was filled with an indescribable feeling.
He said. “This little cat is our child. I’m the dad, you’re the mom. Let’s feed it together and give it a name”
Ellie said, “Let’s call it Luck. It means everything goes smoothly, very auspicious.”
Alex gently loosened his hold on Ellie. This little cat is a male. We can find him a girlfriend in the future.”
Ellie said, “Once it grows a bit older, we’ll get it neutered. No need to find it a wife or let it have kittens.”
Alex said, “If you don’t let it find a wife and have kittens, it’ll be so lonely. It would be great to find it a wife and have a litter of cute kittens. A nice little cat family.”
Ellie seriously explained to Alex, “Getting a cat neutered can extend its lifespan by a lot. If you really don’t like the idea, we can find it a male or female cat and get them both neutered together.”
“Okay, let’s call it Luck then,” Alex said, pulling Ellie upstairs, not wanting to continue the neutering topic.
Ellie insisted, “I mean it.”
Alex joked, “OK then. The name fits the cat. You have the say”
Ellie looked at the back of Alex’s head and suddenly blurted out, “Alex, don’t you avoid the idea of neutering the cat? What are you afraid of?”
The next second. Ellie covered her head and ran towards the main building. Alex’s face darkened with anger, and he chased after her, scolding all the way. The two of them kept fooling around until they stopped at the entrance of the living room.
Ellie went upstairs to rest, while Alex went to his father’s study.

The moment Alex saw Ellie come in, he quickly stubbed out the cigarette butt in his hand.
“Alex, how about I accompany you for a walk downstairs?” Ellie could clearly feel the heavy atmosphere around Alex. Not knowing how to comfort him, she took his hand and led him out of the study.
The garden was very quiet late at night. Holding hands, the two walked along the garden path and unconsciously arrived at the northwest corner of the garden.
