“I know there are issues between you and the Owens family. My sister, in her innocence, unintentionally helped them, which I know caused you a lot of trouble. That’s why I brought her here today to formally apologize,” Winnie explained straightforwardly.
Quinlee offered Ellie a cup of freshly brewed coffee, her tone sincere. “I’m really sorry, Ellie. I trusted Evelyn’s lies, which made me help the Owens family in secret.”

“If I had known how much Ethan hated you, I never would have helped her,” Quinlee said, pushing the coffee cup closer to Ellie. “I truly didn’t mean it.”
Ellie lowered her gaze to the coffee again, choosing not to accept it. Quinlee was apologizing, and it felt petty to hold onto her grudges.
“I don’t hold any ill will against those who are unaware,” Ellie replied coolly. “But I have to leave now; I have things to take care of.”
Quinlee had certainly assisted Ethan for some reason, perhaps trying to help her old friend Haley. At Jinerity, Ellie had mistaken Quinlee for Haley. However, after Diana reminded Winnie to have Quinlee take a paternity test, Ellie’s doubts were cleared.
Even though Ellie couldn’t figure out Quinlee’s true intentions, she could feel the occasional malice from Quinlee, which was very real. Without any leads or evidence, Ellie found herself at a standstill.
Her own life was already chaotic, and she had too much on her plate to think about Quinlee’s motives.
After Ellie left, Quinlee grabbed the untouched coffee and took it to the bar area to throw it out.
She had finally persuaded her sister to join her and had taken that chance to drug Ellie’s coffee, only to find that Ellie had not taken a single sip.
Clearly, Ellie was growing suspicious of her, even if they hadn’t confronted each other directly. If one path was blocked, Quinlee decided she’d just find another way.
A week later, Aaron was discharged from the hospital. Alex was sentenced to ten years for excessive self–defense. When Ellie learned this news, she simply stayed silent, locking herself in her room for the entire day.
The next morning, rain poured unexpectedly. Ellie asked for a few days off from the massage therapy clinic, while Jason decided to visit the Warren family.
When he arrived, Jason found Alex being led away in a police car, with Nancy collapsed in the hallway, crying. Even Evan and the servants were in tears.
A heavy sadness hung over the entire Warren family, the mood even darker than the rainy weather outside.
Alex wore the same outfit he had had on a week ago; his once–white shirt was wrinkled, and his hair was messy, partially obscuring his eyes. He looked worn out, the frustration of his situation weighing heavily on him.
His eyes were red, glistening with unshed tears. He struggled to keep his emotions in check, glancing back at his parents, “Mom, please don’t cry. I’m not gone forever,” he smiled weakly, but the bitterness was clear in his voice.
Alex thought, “Ten years. What will change by then?”
“I will take care of your parents,” Jason said, his expression serious.
“I know,” Alex replied softly.

“Do you regret pulling that trigger?” Jason asked.
“Jason, I’ve done a lot of things I regret, but that shot? I’ll never regret it.”
“She’s at Marvin’s place,” Jason said, walking towards Alex’s parents.
