Diana rolled her eyes and replied, “Tim, I’m looking for a husband, not a father figure.”
A Few Days Later, Ellie went to Rondie Private Hospital. “Let me show you around the departments and introduce you to the staff, Mark said from his office.
He was dressed in tailored slacks and a shirt, topped with a white coat, as he guided Ellie around. After leaving the nursing department, he led Ellie toward the finance department.
Mark said, “There are four deputy directors; my junior, Darren, oversees medical insurance and disputes while also managing public relations. Yara, a returnee PhD, currently manages both the inpatient department and the nursing department.”
“My senior was recruited from Yorksure and is currently in charge of medical technology and emergency services,” Mark explained.
He added, “Ellie, you’re a partner here, so it makes sense for you to oversee administration, but I hear from Diana that you’ve adopted two children. If that drains your energy, I can handle things for now.”
“Thank you, Mark, Ellie replied, sincerely grateful. “I don’t have management experience, so I wish to start from the outpatient services.”
Jason had provided her with some money, allowing her to have one–third stake in Mark’s private hospital. However, she knew very well that although Jason was influential, it was unrealistic to expect him to part with 100 million outright.
The York family was the wealthiest in Lunaville, and that sum was actually given by Whitney. Deep down, she understood/ that Mark had no shortage of funds.
The reason Mark initially proposed the investment was simply out of care for her struggling to navigate city life alongside Aaron; he wanted to lend her a hand.
Ellie inquired, “Mark, since these three will be treating patients and managing over two departments each, won’t the workload be too overwhelming for them?”
Mark responded, “Tve assigned each of them three assistants with salaries three times that of their previous positions, plus year–end bonuses. True, the workload is considerable, but the rewards they get here are equally substantial.”
As they continued walking and talking, they arrived at the finance department. Upon seeing Mark and Ellie arrive, the head of the finance department rushed to greet them with the staff in tow. The moment Ellie saw Yvette, her expression darkened instantly.
She remembered that Yvette had studied accounting and previously worked at a relative’s small firm. Ellie was shocked to learn that Yvette had transferred to this hospital
Yvette brightened at the sight of Ellie, approaching her with the warmth of an old friend. “Ellie, it’s been ages”
In front of the crowd, Ellie offered a curt nod in response. “Let’s head over to the inpatient department, Mark suggested as heted Ellie away from the finance department. Suddenly, the medical team erupted in chatter.
“Yvette, is that woman our hospital’s new doctor!”
“Yvette, is she possibly Mark’s girlfriend?”

As Ellie stepped out of the elevator, a huge flat–screen television displayed news of Alex being released from prison. The footage showed Alex emerging from the prison gates while his parents stood outside waiting.
Clad in black slacks and a white shirt, his tall stature remained upright and confident. The hem of his shirt hung untucked, and the top button was casually undone, with hair falling over his eyes, reminiscent of his youthful days.
In the footage, his parents were in tears, while he wore a grin as he stepped forward to embrace them. Judging by his lip movements, he seemed to say, “Mom, Dad, I’m out.”
