Linda came out from the caregiver’s quarters, her eyes heavy from lack of sleep. “She left last night Linda reported. “She said she got approval to head back to Jinerity for a few days.”
“Get out.” Just as Ellie stepped closer to the doorway, a warning echoed from inside the room. Ellie looked at Linda, who ‘quickly urged her back to the reception area.
“Orion had a nightmare last night; he was really upset. I stayed up until three in the morning calming him down so he wouldn’t throw things,” Linda explained.
“Just a moment, let me try talking to him,” she continued cautiously as she moved into the room while Ellie watched from the doorway.
“Orion, don’t be upset. The person outside is your comrade Jason’s niece and your doctor, Ellie,” Linda said gently as she approached Orion’s wheelchair.
“Orion, you have to trust that Ellie will help you get better. Once you’re healed, you can go home to your family. Don’t be scared; I’ll be right here with you,” Linda coaxed Orion softly, like a parent calming a child.
After a while, he finally nodded in response.
Ellie stood at the door, observing Linda beckoning her to come inside. Despite Orion’s severe facial injuries, one half of his face was unblemished.
Looking at just this half of his face, Ellie noticed a resemblance to Alex, but Orion’s features seemed sharper. His complexion showed a healthy tan, possibly from years spent outside.
