Ellie could easily imagine that once Orion’s appearance was restored, his face and physique would captivate many women. After completing a successful examination. Ellie exited the ward.
“Linda, your hard work during this time has been impressive,” she praised, giving Linda a thumbs–up.

Linda’s bright eyes looked tired from sleepless nights. “Even though Orion can be difficult, I think I’m starting to understand him. As long as I don’t surprise him when he’s upset, I can calm him down enough to avoid any problems.”
“I get paid well, so I have to do my job right, but- Linda hesitated, her thoughts trailing off.
Just focus on your own responsibilities and ignore Quinlee. If she causes trouble for you, don’t put up with it, just talk to Mark or come to me,” Ellie reassured Linda before heading back to her office.
Quinlee seemed determined to have it both ways. She wanted to become Mrs. Warren while avoiding the challenges of caring for Orion herself.
Ellie was convinced that even if Orion couldn’t see, he would definitely sense Quinlee’s dishonesty.
After a busy day at the hospital, Ellie joined Diana and Lacey at a restaurant for a moment of relaxation.
Ellie pointed at Lacey’s sparkling diamond ring on her left hand. “Lacey, you and Mark just got married, and yet you’re out late? Is he okay with that?”
“Mark said as long as I come home at night, I’m free to do whatever I want otherwise,” Lacey replied, smiling sweetly, like someone who just fell for a tricky scheme.
Diana leaned closer, intrigued. “Lacey, be honest, did you and Mark sleep together last night?”
Lacey straightened up and playfully shoved Diana away. With conviction, she replied, “Diana, how could you think that of Mark? He’s the most chivalrous man I’ve ever met.”
In a whisper, Lacey continued, “Last night, he just held me close, but nothing else happened. He told me that the party wasn’t his idea; he had no clue how it all started.
“He assured me that our marriage is like a contract; he won’t pressure me. After a year, if I’ve had enough, he’ll help me file for divorce. After you all left, Mark insisted I take the bed while he chose the sofa.”
Lacey’s face beamed with pride with every mention of Mark, making Diana and Ellie exchange amused looks. Ellie bit her straw, feeling like she was watching Lacey get fooled by Mark.
“Diana, has Aaron come home yet?” Ellie suddenly remembered that Aaron had stayed at the Grant Manor after drinking too much the previous night.
At the mention of Aaron, Diana’s expression changed quickly. “Don’t even mention your brother,” she exclaimed, stuffing her mouth with an oversized piece of meat.
Noticing Diana’s mood shift, Ellie’s voice became cautious. “Did my brother do something he shouldn’t have while he was drunk?”
Diana, with her mouth full, rolled her eyes. “He clung to my dad while crying. Tim and Liam couldn’t get him off. He wailed about how five years ago, I abandoned him, leaving him all alone, and how much your mom worried about him.
“My family had no choice but to carry him to my room. Before dawn, he had already run away.”
Though Diana’s words were a bit muffled because of her chewing, Ellie grasped the seriousness of the situation. Hearing the story made her chest tighten, and she stared down at her straw, lost in thought.
