Chapter 558
That night, Ellie returned to the Thompson residence and rushed upstairs to find Aaron. “I need to sleep, Aaron insisted, pushing Ellie away from the door.
Ellie stood stubbornly at the threshold, refusing to leave. “Is what Diana said true?”
“Don’t listen to her nonsense; I was drunk and can’t remember,” Aaron shot back, shoving Ellie into the hallway and shutting the door with a loud bang.
After returning to her room to take a shower, Ellie found she couldn’t sleep due to her curiosity. She changed her clothes and reappeared at Aaron’s door.
Watching Aaron’s strange behavior, she was convinced that he remembered everything, and clearly so.
But no matter how hard she knocked this time, Aaron refused to open the door. Ellie wandered to the children’s room, peering at the two little ones who were already fast asleep on the bed. Instantly, all her tiredness vanished.
Ellie had a habit of checking her social media before bedtime. Back in her room, she turned on her phone and found a news article sent by Lacey from earlier in the afternoon. In fact, she had already seen the news.
In the video, Alex wore a black suit as he arrived on time at the headquarters of Warren Group at eight in the morning. Three hours later, the Warren Group’s official website announced that Alex would officially take over as CEO the following Monday.
Almost immediately, the internet exploded with criticism and doubt about Alex. Even the comments from the board were negative. Those words not only questioned Alex’s abilities but also cast doubt on his character.
Having lived with the Warren family for over a decade, Ellie was well aware of the unpredictable nature of the business world.
While she didn’t exactly know what Alex had done to rise so quickly, one thing was certain: the more extreme his methods, the harder the problems he would face down the line, and the more enemies he would make, putting him in greater danger.
Unable to sleep, Ellie stood on the balcony, clutching her phone tightly. As she looked into the vast darkness in front of her, her heart gradually began to settle down.
Even though the Warren family was currently in chaos and Alex’s troubled entry into the Warren Group was met with skepticism, she found comfort in the fact that Orion had returned.
Once Orion fully recovered and reconciled with his family, she believed the brothers would unite their strengths, ensuring the Warren family’s future success.
Despite Haley once again surviving and staying close to Orion under the guise of Quinlee, Ellie trusted that Jason had his own plans. She would also stay alert against that woman.
A few days later, Orion’s first surgery had been successfully completed, but Quinlee had still not returned from Jinerity.
“Linda, thank you for your hard work these past few days. Post–operative care is crucial, so make sure to take good care of him,” Ellie said, visiting the hospital room one last time before her shift ended, offering some nursing reminders to Linda.
“Don’t worry, Ellie; I will take excellent care of Orion until he fully recovers. I won’t take this generous salary for granted,” Linda replied, her eyes red from exhaustion, but she still managed a cheerful smile.
Having gotten used to Orion’s temperament, her work had stabilized. If she kept performing well, she might even get hospital accommodation, saving her from the worry of being evicted by a landlord.

Around eight in the evening. Ellie found the room where Diana was located inside the Earl Hotel’s club. Since the room was filled with Diana’s friends, she opted not to go in and instead sent Diana a message from the doorway.
