Diana quickly came out, handing Ellie two bags. “One has your brother’s jacket that he left in my room, and the other is coffee my dad asked me to deliver to Jason.”
Ellie eyed Diana cautiously and asked, “Diana, did you and Aaron have a fight?”
Since Diana had returned, her relationship with Aaron had clearly deepened. She seemed to spend entire days at the Thompson residence without fail, but now she wouldn’t even meet Aaron.
“Aaron won’t even answer my calls. It’s like I was the one who got drunk that day. He won’t even face me,” Diana exclaimed, recalling Aaron’s indifferent responses, filled with dismissive comments like “uh–huh” and “oh“.
“Don’t be upset. I promise I’ll talk to him when I get home tonight and call you,” Ellie reassured her, noticing others emerging from the room to find Diana and leaving quickly.
Before leaving, Ellie quickly stopped by the restroom, where she unexpectedly ran into Nancy. From a distance, she saw Nancy looking frail, standing in the hallway, speaking on the phone with her voice laced with tears. Ellie hesitated to approach.
‘Has she discovered Todd’s infidelity?‘ Ellie turned to leave but paused again after a few steps. Considering the current situation with the Warren family and Nancy’s distressed appearance, she followed Nancy.
Ellie followed all the way to the guest room area. Her instincts kicked in; Alex’s parents were having serious issues, and Nancy had come to confront Todd. However, she noticed the elevator had arrived on this floor, yet Nancy wasn’t around.
“Looking for me?” a relaxed voice called from behind Ellie. Before she could react, a strong arm pulled her into a room. By the time Ellie understood what was happening, she found herself pinned against the wall of the suite by Alex.
As Ellie found herself close to Alex, their breaths mingled in the small space. “You’re drunk,” Ellie said, wincing at the strong smell of alcohol surrounding him; she turned her head to avoid the warmth of his breath.
“What are you doing here at this hour?” Alex asked, clearly intoxicated, swaying slightly as he held Ellie close.
He gazed down at her slightly parted lips, his bloodshot eyes filled with an indescribable emotion. An intimate lilt crept into
his voice.
His throat bobbed as he moved closer. Sensing his intent, Ellie lowered her head to evade him and struggled against his hold. Alex grunted as he nearly fell, and Ellie instinctively pulled him back.
Leaning against the wall for support, Alex kept Ellie firmly placed in front of him. He cupped her cheek with one hand, his fingers lightly grazing her lips as he tightened his grip on her other hand, drawing her closer.
Facing the intoxicated Alex, Ellie took a deep, silent breath. He just can’t change. Just then, she heard the sound of a hairdryer running in the bathroom.
“Please, have some self–control,” Ellie snapped, her expression turning cold as she forcefully broke free from Alex’s grasp to reach for the door. Before her hand could touch the doorknob, there was loud, persistent knocking from outside.
“She doesn’t like widows, so keep your voice down,” Alex said, pushing Ellie behind the curtains. His comments left her utterly confounded.
Ellie thought, One in the bathroom and another outside. Still, he dared to flirt with me while hiding me behind the curtains? What a scoundrel. If his father also cheated, that would certainly be hereditary. Such a disgrace.
“Mr. Warren, I’m all done,” a strange man’s voice made Ellie’s mind spin. ‘Alex was actually with a man?
The door burst open, and Nancy rushed in immediately. Staring in shock at the young man beside her son, Nancy trembled, her lips quivering as she looked at Alex
