Chapter 567
Aaron quietly loosened his grip on her hand. “I rarely drink, and when I do, I can get a bit out of hand. My family knows about it.”
He recalled a time in college when he had drunkenly lectured a stray dog for three hours, and a video of that had been posted by his classmates, Since then, he had never let himself drink too much again.
That night at The Grant Manor, he had been careless. Diana noticed how flustered and shy Aaron looked and felt amused. This clumsy boy was simply embarrassed after sobering up.
“Aaron?” she said, gently lifting his chin with her hand. Just then, Aaron noticed a few colleagues peeking in through the car window, and he quickly pulled her hand away.
“Turn your face towards me; I have a question,” Diana insisted as she climbed onto the seat, kneeling on one knee and cupping his face with both hands.
“Sit back down; my colleagues are watching,” Aaron protested, placing his hands on her shoulders and trying to push her back into the passenger seat.
“Aaron, I’m upset!” Diana declared. When he pushed her back, she opened the car door and stepped out in frustration. He kept ignoring her. She decided to forgive him, yet he still acted so distantly.
Aaron hurried after her, blocking her path. “It’s dark; where do you think you’re going? Get in, I’ll drive you home.”
“Did I come here for you to take me home?” Diana replied, her high heels clicking angrily as she pushed Aaron aside.
“Girls can develop stress headaches when they’re mad,” Aaron said, causing Diana to pause for a moment. She raised her hand, ready to punch him.
“I’m sorry, I apologize,” Aaron exclaimed as he caught both of Diana’s hands. “What happened between us should not have been shared with your family in such a bad way; I’m truly sorry.”
He added, “I’m worried about whether your dad is angry, or if your other family members are upset, or if you’re mad.”
“Get in my car; your makeup is running.” Aaron noticed Diana wasn’t moving, so he bent down to carry her back to the car.
After placing her gently in the passenger seat, Aaron got in beside her. He reached over with a tissue to wipe the sweat from her forehead, noticing the redness around her eyes from frustration.
Aaron cupped Diana’s face, but she swatted his hands away angrily. “Aaron, what do you truly feel for me?”
Aaron’s expression turned serious. “I thought after five years, we wouldn’t have to question our feelings for each other anymore.”
Diana replied, “I’ve told you before; I don’t want a relationship that’s just practical. I want love, admiration, and true understanding. Your distant behavior over the past few days has unsettled me.”
“I wasn’t being cold to you. I just didn’t know how to apologize to your family, to your dad, to you.”
“I don’t believe you,” Diana said, turning away from him with a frozen expression. In the past, she had been easy–going, able to connect with anyone, but with Aaron, she felt that was impossible.
These last few days, with Aaron failing to reach out, she had lost interest in everything.
“Diana, I never take feelings lightly,” Aaron declared. “I’m sure you’re the one I want to spend my life with. I’ve already told my family, and I am going to propose at The Grant Manor.”

Aaron leaned in slowly and tried to kiss her. “No kissing,” Diana protested, raising her voice.
“Don’t be mad; I won’t kiss you,” Aaron promised, leaning back slightly. Diana closed her eyes and took a deep breath, feeling frustrated that he really wasn’t going to kiss her.
