Chapter 571
Before Yvette could finish, she collapsed to the floor. Ellie, whose heart raced with panic, slowly withdrew a needle. She remained calm, but inside, she was terrified. Had she hesitated any longer, Yvette might have revealed her complicated history with Alex.

Alex said, “Get her out of here.” Barry and two bodyguards rushed in, ready to carry the unconscious Yvette away, but several security guards blocked their way at the door.
Ellie protested, “This is Bondic Private Hospital. When an employee faints during working hours, it’s the responsibility of the hospital to deal with it–she can’t just be taken away.”
Alex stepped closer to Ellie, locking eyes with her. “You did this to her on purpose. I have plenty of reasons to suspect you.” He suddenly grabbed her wrist, ripping the needle from her hand.
It hurt, and she flinched. “I did it, so I will take full responsibility.”
Alex exchanged a meaningful look with Barry, who then instructed the security team to escort Yvette out. As they left, the break room fell into an eerie quiet. Suddenly, Alex let out a chuckle that sent shivers through Ellie.
“Ellie, are you still unwilling to tell th
truth?” His voice softened as he leaned in closer, maintaining eye contact.
“She hates me–don’t listen to her nonsense. I have never seen that photograph,” Ellie said, filled with guilt, as she averted her gaze to leave.
But Alex grabbed her neck, forcing her to look him in the eyes. His smile sent her heart racing with dread.
“Ellie, your kids are at learning to swim right now. Should I send someone to ensure they get a proper lesson?” Alex spoke softly, his voice almost soothing, but this only made her feel more anxious.
Just an hour earlier, Joanna had told her about the swimming class. Ellie was certain her kids were still there.
“Madman,” Ellie exclaimed, gazing into Alex’s eyes, filled with anger.
“I’m not waiting, Ellie. You can either take me to see Orion right now, or we’re going to the park. If you drive quickly, their bodies might still be warm,” Alex whispered in her ear again before straightening up.
Ellie clenched her fists so tightly they trembled. In the tense silence of the break room, they shared a heavy stare.
Ellie fought back tears while Alex’s expression remained cold and unyielding. They held each other’s gaze, the tension palpable, until Ellie finally surrendered.
This man was capable of anything; she couldn’t take the risk with her children’s safety.
With Alex firmly gripping her wrist, they walked toward Orion’s room, drawing cautious glances from everyone they passed. With each slight struggle, Alex tightened his grip, leaving her skin marked with bruises.
“Mark!” Spotting Mark in a deep gray casual suit beside Lacey as they prepared to leave, Ellie called out. Just as she was about to rush toward them, Alex pulled her back forcefully.
Seeing Alex restrain Ellie, Lacey’s expression darkened. She stepped forward, trying to shield Ellie. “Lacey,” Mark said, sensing the rising tension in the air, furrowing his brow.
“Step aside,” Alex warned coldly. But Lacey stood firm, prompting Mark to protect her from behind.
“Mr. Warren, it’s unusual for you to visit. Would you honor us with a cup of coffee in my office?” Mark suggested, attempting to defuse the situation.

“Mark, I’m here to see Orion,” Alex replied bluntly, showing no sign of softening.
“Orion?” Lacey echoed in confusion, looking between the three of them.
Mark said, “Mr. Warren, perhaps we could-
Td prefer for Ellie to accompany me for a moment,” Alex interrupted, his grip on her shoulder tightening. She winced again, unable to suppress a soft whimper.
