Chapter 578
Alex carefully stepped into the hospital room. Ellie closed the door behind her. Noticing Quinlee loitering in the corridor, Ellie decided to quietly step out into the hallway.

Quinlee, dressed in high heels and sporting long, styled hair, radiated a sense of worn elegance with her designer outfit, bold makeup, and striking red nails.
Quinlee exclaimed, “I am Orion’s fiancée and part of the family. Since Alex is in there, why can’t I go in?”
Ellie, who was wearing a black dress that reached above her knees paired with a white, tie–waist chiffon blouse and an overcoat, stood expressionless in the corridor.
Her shoulder–length hair was softly curled at the ends and held back with a hair tie. Her makeup was so subtle it was barely noticeable.
As Ellie stood there, her calm demeanor contrasted sharply with Quinlee’s flushed face, indicating her fury.
“This is a hospital, and I am the attending physician,” Ellie said with quiet authority. “If I say you cannot enter, then you may not enter.” She stepped closer, cutting Quinlee off before she could respond.
“Haley, just because you pretend to be Quinlee doesn’t mean you can act however you please. If I hear of any misconduct, I will make sure you face the consequences.”
With that, Ellie walked back into the patient room. Just as she entered the reception area, Alex stepped out. When he approached her with reddened eyes, Ellie stopped in her tracks.
“Ellie,” he called out, meeting her gaze. Her eyes widened in surprise, and before she could say anything, he pulled her into an unexpected embrace. She tensed up and instinctively tried to push him away.
“Thank you,” Alex said, his voice shaky with emotion as he held onto her arms tightly. Ellie let his grip loosen gradually before letting her arms drop down.
His embrace was just a way to share his joy, without any hidden meanings. “Congratulations,” Ellie replied softly. As they hugged, she felt Alex’s phone vibrating in his pocket.
Gently, she patted his shoulder to get his attention. “Your phone.”
Alex let go of her and answered the call, but it ended quickly. Looking back at her, he said, “My mom just called to say she set up a blind date for me tonight.”
“Well then, good luck with that,” Ellie replied with a polite smile, looking away. “Mr. Warren, you should take care of your things; I need to get back to the patient room.”
With that, she opened the door, leaving Alex standing there. He watched her walk away, his expression showing uncertainty.
As evening arrived, marking the end of the workday, Ellie brought Orion a laptop and a ITB waterproof metal USB drive. “Orion, I’ve got what you asked for,” she said, placing the items on the table.
Orion was in his wheelchair, wearing a patient gown. His hollow eyes stared blankly ahead as he struggled to hold the metal USB. “I can’t see; I’ll need your help with this, Ellie,” he said.
Ellie was about to leave when Orion’s voice stopped her.
Over an hour later, Ellie walked out of the patient room. In the hospital parking lot, she lingered in her car for a long time, unable to calm the storm inside her.
It was clear that Orion had stored a secret medical document in his mind.

Due to his condition and the long time that had passed, he couldn’t accurately write down the document, leaving Ellie to rely on Orion’s verbal account to take notes for later review by the government.
