It turned out Quinlee was just bait; the real mastermind behind her was Jason and Orion’s main target.
Jason had repeatedly warned her not to dig too deep and had been tirelessly negotiating with the higher–ups to replace Ellie with another military doctor to keep her from getting involved in their dangerous plans.
Gripping the steering wheel tightly, Ellie pressed her forehead against it, taking deep breaths to calm herself. No matter how high Jason’s rank, there were greater authorities above him, and his word alone couldn’t decide everything.
Despite the risks, someone had to step up. Time seemed to stretch, and eventually, her breathing became more even. Looking through the car’s windshield, she saw the darkness outside and silently resolved to accomplish something significant.
After this incident, Ellie initially thought things would be sorted out quickly. But unexpected problems arose. Orion’s condition worsened for unknown reasons; he refused treatment and even harmed Linda.
As a result, transcribing the document had to be temporarily postponed.
“How do you take care of patients here? I want a transfer.” Quinlee stormed into the hospital and headed straight for the director’s office to confront Mark.
“The patient is scheduled for a second facial reconstruction surgery in a few days; if you have no useful input, please stop causing more distress.” Mark was firm, dismissing her immediately.
Undeterred, Quinlee approached the patient room, but was stopped by Ellie at the door. “The psychologist is currently with the patient; you can’t go in.”
“Ellie, step aside.” Quinlee pushed forward, trying to grab Ellie, but Alex arrived just in time to pull her back.
Seeing Alex, Quinlee felt hopeful. She steadied herself and pointed toward the patient room. “Alex, please let me in; I’m Orion’s fiancée, and he needs me.”
Alex didn’t respond, motioning for Barry to take Quinlee away. “Did she hurt you?” he asked, lowering his head to Ellie. She shook her head as they both entered the patient room.
Thus, Orion’s situation continued to fluctuate for over a month. After a few brief improvements, he underwent two facial reconstruction surgeries and was currently recovering.
Throughout this month, Alex visited almost every day. Quinlee was constantly demanding Orion’s transfer, and four months had passed since Orion’s return.
Growing impatient, Quinlee secretly met Yvette and said, “I asked you to talk to Orion’s parents about their son’s return; have you done it?”
In a temporary parking space by the roadside, despite the cool air conditioning in the car, sweat trickled down Quinlee’s forehead in anxiety.
Yvette said, “Quinlee, I did bring it up, but they just don’t believe me.”
Yvette, following Ellie’s advice, urged Quinlee, “Maybe my words don’t carry much weight to them. But you are Orion’s fiancée; if you deliver the message yourself, they will listen.”
Quinlee gripped the steering wheel tightly. She had signed a confidentiality agreement, and sharing details could lead her to jail. She still needed to be Mrs. Warren–there was no room for mistakes.
“Yvette, here’s the plan: you need to bring Nancy to Bondie Private Hospital.” Quinlee lowered her voice, sharing her plan with Yvette.

Noticing Yvette hesitating, Quinlee quickly offered her a check for 30 thousand. Yvette said, “Quinlee, don’t worry, I will find a way to bring Nancy to Bondie Private Hospital.”
Wette got out of the car and walked toward a mall. Upon entering the restroom, she quickly messaged Ellie.
A few days later, around ten in the morning, Ellie had just arrived at Orion’s room when a message pinged on her phone.
“They have arrived; let’s hide for a moment,” Ellie said, leading Linda out of the patient room.
