Chapter 597
As soon as Betty walked in with a serious face, Ellie knew something bad had happened.
“Are you the parent of these kids?” A young, well–dressed woman pointed directly at Ellie, her tone sharp and unwelcoming.
Ellie nodded. “Yes, I am.”
The young woman sneered. “These kids beat my son up. What are you going to do about it?”
“He deserved it!” Betty stepped forward and kicked the chubby boy hard.
“How dare you?” The young woman, seeing Betty kick her son in public, raised her hand to slap Betty.
Just as she was about to touch Betty, Ellie yanked Betty back and shielded her, dodging the blow.
“Ma’am, if you have an issue, let’s talk it out. Resorting to verbal abuse isn’t right,” Ellie said. She knew Betty was wrong yet she still tried to protect her.
“I’ll say whatever I want after she beat my son like that. Do yo
know who
I am?” The young woman pushed Ellie.
“How dare you hit my mom? I’ll beat you to death!” Betty, seeing the woman pushing Ellie, broke free from Ellie’s grip and bit the woman’s arm.
“You must learn from this, you little brat!” The woman, in pain, shook off Betty and was about to strike again when she noticed a group of people approaching from a distance.
She sobbed dramatically as she approached a middle–aged man named Zachary Wright. “Honey, we were having fun tonight, but look at how these brats bullied us!”
Zachary was about to roll up his sleeves when Layton stepped forward. “Mr. Wright, who is this lovely lady with you?”
Zachary’s anger instantly dissipated as he saw Layton: “Uh, Mr. Mosley, she and her son are my
relatives.”
Layton said with a disdainful smile, “My mom mentioned that she hasn’t seen Mrs. Wright in a while. How has she been?”
Zachary bowed obsequiously. “My wife is on vacation abroad. We’ll visit Mrs. Mosley personally next week. Well, this was just a misunderstanding. We won’t bother you anymore, Mr. Mosley. We’ll be on our way.”
Zachary grabbed the boy with one hand and the young woman with the other, hurrying them away.
Ellie quietly withdrew her gaze. In the high–society circles, such incidents were nothing new.
“Who was that man just now, and why wouldn’t you let me speak?” the young woman persisted, only to be yanked into the elevator by Zachary and slapped across the face.
“That was Layton Mosley, one of the heirs of the Mosley Group. One of those kids is the Mosley family’s grandson. If you want to get yourself fucked, don’t drag me into it!” Zachary said.
The crowd began to disperse. The kids lined up, standing in front of Layton, Nalani, and Ellie. Layton pointed at them and said, “Alright, tell me what happened here.”
“Dad, Betty led us here,” Jared began to explain.
“Traitor!” Jared didn’t get to finish before Betty shot him a glare, silencing him with just a look.
Layton and Nalani exchanged a glance, both of them speechless.

Chapter 597
“Betty, you’re not allowed to speak to Jared like that.” Ellie’s voice was firm as she looked at Betty. “Apologize to him,
“We swore that whoever broke it was a traitor!” Betty was stubborn, tilting her head and kicking Jared.
Jared pouted and looked like he was about to cry.
Betty yelled, “Stop that, you little coward!” Her shout startled Jared who quickly held back his tears.
“Ellie, your daughter is quite tough,” Nalani said, looking at her useless son with disdain.
Ellie rubbed her forehead.
“Since Jared is too scared to speak, Oscar, you tell us,” Layton pointed at George.
George stepped forward, glancing at Betty. “Betty didn’t make any mistake, and neither did we. It’s the chubby boy who tried to take our cat away. It’s his fault!”
Nalani asked, “What cat?”
The kids all pointed to a proud Maine Coon cat not far away.
