Chapter 598
Alex sat at a booth on the third floor, right by the window, staring at the woman sitting across from him. He was itching to make a move, as if, were it not in public, he could knock the chair over and lean on her.
Alex said, “Ms. Jefferson, honestly, I’m not asking for much. After we get married, I want eight kids, boys and girls, both
Scarlett was stunned.
Alex continued, “I’m not sure if my mom told you, but I’ve been to prison. I spent five whole years there without a woman.
“If you like me, we’ll marry right away, and as my wife, you’re gonna have to cooperate with me when it comes to… sexual life. If you can’t handle it, I’ll keep mistresses, but you can’t complain about it.”
Scarlett frowned.
Alex wasn’t done. “After we get married, you can’t always be running back to your parents‘ place, taking stuff from me to give to them, asking me to help your family financially.”
Hearing that, Scarlett tried to hold back her anger.
Alex continued, “Also, I won’t be contributing any money to the wedding, so all the expenses will be on your family. After we get married, we’ll split everything 50/50.
“We’ll do a pre–marital property agreement, but don’t worry, I may not support you financially, but no matter how many kids you have, I’ll take care of them. Also, you must…”
“I’m done!” Scarlett’s face turned pale with anger. She picked up her juice and splashed it all over Alex.
“Mr. Warren,” Barry, seeing Alex drenched in orange juice, was about to step in to help, but Alex stopped him with a raised hand.
“I like you, Ms. Jefferson. You seem to be a tough woman,” Alex said, sticking his tongue out to lick the juice off his face.
He then pulled out a comb from his pocket and started brushing his short hair back, the fresh fruit bits falling out with each
stroke.
He grinned, giving the creepiest smile. “Ms. Jefferson, if you think something’s off, we can always talk about it. If you behave well after we’re married, I might even give you some money for shopping.”
Scarlett asked, “How much will you give me?”
Alex said, “One thousand dollars… no, 700 dollars. It can’t be more than that.”
“Fuck off!” Scarlett, fuming, started crying while calling her family to complain.
“Ms. Jefferson, let’s talk this out. I hope we can register for marriage tomorrow and move in together tonight,” Alex said lazily, turning around, only to see a group of people standing nearby.
His eyes locked with Ellie’s from across the room. Alex froze.
Ellie finally understood why Layton called him a peacock. That outfit… She had to say that she was amazed by it.
Seeing the woman next to Alex crying, Ellie sighed.
She thought, “The girl looks decent, so what is Alex complaining about? He’s been in prison for five years, and now at his age, all he has is just his handsome face. He doesn’t seem to appreciate what he owns!

Alex saw Ellie frowning more and more, and on reflex, he took a step toward her to explain, but on a second thought, he grabbed Barry over to hide behind him. He pushed Barry forward and retreated to his booth to fix himself up.
Barry stumbled right in front of Ellie with his hands raised awkwardly above his head. “Dr. Thompson, it’s not what you think.”
Before Ellie could say anything, Betty tilted her head and asked, “Sir, what was going on?”
The three little boys chimed in unison, “Yeah, what’s that supposed to mean?”
Barry hesitated, his words stuck.
