Chapter 599
“Betty, don’t talk to this gentleman like that,” Ellie shot Betty a warning glance.
Betty tilted her little head and asked Barry, “You’re not mad, are you?”
“No, not at all,” Barry quickly waved his hands. He wouldn’t dare get angry with Alex’s daughter.
Nalani rolled up her sleeves and marched toward Alex and Layton. “You two troublemakers really need a lesson!”
“Exactly!” Betty rolled up her sleeves, ready to join Nalani, but was quickly pulled back by Ellic.

“Hold on, babe,” Layton said, sweet–talking Nalani while blocking her path. He turned to look at Alex, who was hunched over, still checking his face in the mirror and almost went crazy.
“Stop doing that!” Layton shouted, making Alex stand up.
Suddenly, a piece of cake flew straight into Alex’s face. The cake dropped from his face to his chest and then to the floor, creamy frosting dripping from top to bottom.
Alex pointed at the girl who had thrown the cake and was about to go over when Chris hurried over, stepped on the cake, and fell, taking Alex down with him.
“You’re a jerk! You already have a girlfriend yet you still come to a blind date!” a woman came up and scolded Chris.
“Exactly! I never asked for anything from you. I just wanted someone honest and kind. However, you told me you were working overtime, and then you ran off to a blind date. Liar!” the girl who had thrown the cake scolded Chris.
“Don’t get me wrong. The one who came here for the blind date is my boss.” Chris pushed Alex forward and said, “Mr. Warren, you have to explain this to my girlfriend. She has the wrong idea!”
Alex’s face was covered in white frosting, with only his eyes visible. He pointed at himself and said, “Do you think I can help you right now?”
Chris was
speechless.
“No wonder you work together. It turns out you’re the same kind of people!” Scarlett, who had been on a blind date with Alex, came over and splashed a glass of water from the table onto both of them.
The three women surrounded Alex and Chris, yelling at them while throwing things. Out of nowhere, a few more women appeared, joining the fray.
Barry, try
his best to help Alex up, was immediately pushed down onto Alex’s lap by two women. He was too embarrassed to even lift his head.
“M
goodness!” Layton, terrified, stepped back, hiding behind Nalani.
Seeing the chaos, Nalani thought she didn’t even need to get involved. She just clapped her hands and cheered, using the opportunity to lecture Layton. “See? Men should just stay home and take care of the kids. This is what happens when you mess around!”
“You’re right, babe,” Layton said, now completely obedient.
Betty, imitating those women, started clapping along on the side, even reminding them to kick low.
“Betty!” Ellie quickly stopped her, ushering the kids back to their room.

By the time Ellie returned to the Thompson residence, it was nearly ten o’clock in the evening. After bathing the kids and tucking them in, she spent over an hour making sure they were asleep.
By the time she finally lay down, she was completely drained. She silenced her phone and collapsed into bed, falling asleep instantly.
Meanwhile, in the private suite at the Earl Hotel, Alex was lounging in a white bathrobe, lying on the bed, talking to himself as he stared at his phone. “Why aren’t you picking up or texting back? Are you upset after seeing what happened tonight?”
Suddenly, Alex sat up sharply. He found the right angle and snapped a selfie. Then he sent it to Ellie with a note saying, [I’m still looking good. What you saw tonight was just an accident.]
