“That child’s parents are high–level staff at this school. You should think carefully about how you want to handle this?
The three teachers took turns speaking, combining gentle persuasion with subtle threats. Ellie, staring at the teachers as she stood protectively over her children, could feel the pressure mounting
In less than thirty minutes since she got the call, the injured child had been taken to the hospital, and her children were locked in a storage room. Now, not only were they refusing to provide her with surveillance footage, but they were threatening her.
“Run!” Ellie suddenly bent down and whispered to the kids. They immediately turned and bolted toward the elevator. Ellie shoved a large potted plant down in the hallway, creating an obstruction as she quickly ushered the children into the elevator.
“Get her! She’s recording!” Benjamin shouted as he noticed the phone screen when Ellie turned.
They rushed to the elevator, but by then, the door had already started closing and the elevator was descending
“Once we’re out, don’t let anyone come near you. Run straight to the front gate, and my car is outside. Just get in and wait for me.” Ellie instructed, quickly handing the car keys to Oscar. “Take care of Betty.”
Ellie tried to send the video she had just recorded to Aaron, but the elevator’s poor signal kept the video from sending.
The door opened, and two male teachers were waiting there, blocking the exit. Ellie’s fingers tightened around the silver needles she had hidden in her hand as she led her children out.
“Ms. Thompson, please come with us to the principal’s office,” one of the male teachers suddenly stepped forward and grabbed Betty.
“Let go of me!” Betty kicked at the teacher’s crotch, but since he was so much taller than her, she missed. Immediately, Oscar leaped into action, spinning around and landing a sidekick to him. The teacher collapsed, clutching his groin.
The other male teacher cursed as he rushed toward them, but Ellie swiftly inserted a silver needle into his neck. The teacher froze, his body stiffened, and he fell flat onto the ground, unable to move.
“We need to go, now!” Ellie grabbed the kids and ran straight to the school gate, already having called the police. From a distance, she spotted several security guards standing by the entrance, making her slow to a stop.
For safety reasons, the school’s retractable gate was made 6.5 feet tall, and during class hours, no outsiders were allowed to enter or leave freely. Ellie was brought in with a teacher’s approval, but now, they all knew she had recorded evidence.
At this point, her only options were to wait for the police or for Aaron to come. Otherwise, she and the kids weren’t getting out of here.
“The school has strict policies–parents are not allowed to take photos or videos without permission. You can leave, but we need to check your phone first,” said a middle–aged man in glasses who looked like a school administrator, accompanied by the same three teachers.
A security guard approached and whispered something to the administrator whose name was Miles.
His expression shifted slightly, but he quickly regained his composure and pointed at Ellie. “Our school has been around for centuries with international recognition and foreign investments. Even if you call the police, we have nothing to worry about.”
Ellie shielded the kids, backing up against the retractable gate. “If you’re not worried, then what are you so afraid of?”
Benjamin stepped forward. “Ms. Thompson, as far as we know, you’re a single mother.”

Ellie’s expression turned cold. “And what exactly do you mean by that?
Grace tried to smooth things over. “Don’t get us wrong. You know as well as we do this school has strong backing, and every student here comes from an influential family.
“Raising two kids on your own isn’t easy, and we just want to resolve this matter quietly. We are doing this for your good.”
Hand over your phone, and we will handle this appropriately, Miles ordered, exchanging a glance with the teachers. At his signal, they stepped forward, closing in on Ellie,
Ellie held the kids close, standing her ground. “Being a single mom doesn’t mean I’ll let my children be treated unfairly!”
“Mom…” Oscar tugged at her sleeve, looking up with uncertain eyes. “Are they picking on us because we don’t have a dad?”
