A few days later, Ellie stayed home to spend time with her kids. The day before, the newly appointed school administrators had visited, explaining that there had been a change in the leadership team and asking the kids to return to school.
After thinking for a moment, she decided to take them on Monday to check things out.
Around nine in the morning, several teachers showed up at the door. “Ms. Thompson, we sincerely apologize. We didn’t recognize the situation, and we’re here to say sorry to Betty and Oscar.”
Ellie watched as the teachers formally apologized to her kids. She didn’t say much in response and had the butler walk them
out.

These teachers were likely the ones with less involvement in the incident. After a week of detention, they paid fines and were released. A few of the more seriously involved teachers, however, were facing criminal charges.
As for the principal of the school, he had resigned in disgrace, and it was said that he had moved abroad. Although these teachers were released, they had all been permanently stripped of their teaching qualifications, and they would never be able to teach again.
After more than ten years of studying, they had finally secured a stable job with a steady income, but they just didn’t appreciate it. For them, this punishment was severe enough.
Early Monday morning, Ellie brought the kids to school. The new principal and several teachers were already waiting at the gate to greet them.
As they walked along, Ellie couldn’t help but frown at the unusually warm reception from the teachers. Honesty, she wasn’t used to this. However, sensing the teachers‘ goodwill, the kids gradually relaxed. Seeing some familiar classmates, they happily went up to greet them.
“Ms. Thompson, we’ve arranged for your kids to stay in their original class. The student who caused the issue has already been expelled, so you don’t need to worry. All of the teachers in this class have been replaced.
“If you’re not satisfied, feel free to let us know,” the new principal introduced the restructured teacher lineup for the class.
“Mr. Graham, although my kids have faced some unfair treatment here, we don’t want any special treatment,” Ellie hesitated as she spoke.
“It’s not a special treatment.” The dean personally wiped down the chairs and gestured for the kids to sit. From the tone of Adrian’s words, it was clear these kids were from a significant background, and they needed to be treated with care.
Ellie stared at him, speechless.
“Thank you,” Oscar said, pulling out a tissue to clean his hands. “Sir, I’ll clean my desk and chair myself.”
“You’re so polite. I bet you have a great mom,” the dean praised enthusiastically.
After a brief pause, Ellie hesitated before continuing, “Mr. Graham, could I have a word with you?”
“Sure, Ms. Thompson. We can head to the principal’s office. The new principal is waiting for you,” Adrian spoke up, stepping out of the classroom.
“Are you going to be okay?” Ellie asked the kids one more time before leaving.
“Don’t worry, Mom, I’ll take care of Betty,” Oscar sat up straight in his seat, calm and obedient.
“I’m not scared. If anyone bullies me, I’ll just beat him up. If I can’t beat them, I’ll run away.” Betty wasn’t afraid at all. She tossed her ponytail and, with one hand in her backpack, seemed to be sneaking around with something.
