Haley asked, “You were the one who asked me out that day at the studio, but now you see me and just turn around. What’s up with that?”
fell silent. That day, she had been pressured by Alex to call Haley.
On the call, she said, “Alex wants to see you. I’ll be waiting at the studio entrance. If you can’t make it today, we can reschedule.”
Haley knew Alex was around but still showed up. Once inside, she stuck to Alex, and even when things took a turn, she didn’t bother talking to Ellie.
From the moment they met, Haley made no effort to resolve things; she was just there to see Alex, and that was a fact. Ellie didn’t say anything, so why was Haley so loud, acting like she had the moral high ground to question her?
Ellie furrowed her brows, “Whether you say yes to his proposal is your own business. What’s the point of telling me this??
Haley stared at Ellie and slowly calmed down. “Ellie, I know you’re still mad at me because I broke up with Aaron, but honestly, he and I just aren’t right for each other. We’re adults; breaking up is normal.”
Haley continued, “Last time when Alex’s parents came to our place, his mom kept calling you her precious daughter. I can tell the Warren family really values you; they treat you like one of their own. Even though you’ve moved out, Alex hasn’t abandoned you”
Haley reached out to take Ellie’s hand, but Ellie pulled away.
Haley awkwardly withdrew her hand and kept going, “Ellie, Alex and I are going to get married. You’re his sister, so we’ll all be family. I really don’t want things to be awkward between us!”
Ellie’s expression changed repeatedly.
So Haley’s fixation on her wasn’t because she cherished their friendship, but because everyone in the Warren family treated her like family–they valued her too much! The harsh truth of reality was truly terrifying!
“You must be mistaken; my last name is Thompson, not Warren Ellie smirked sarcastically. “Haley, I really appreciate you Jetting Aaron go!”
Haley didn’t expect Ellie to lash back like that, leaving her speechless. With a grim expression, Haley looked at Ellie with teary eyes. After a long pause, she finally asked, “Ellie, what do you mean by that?”
Thinking about the photos on Alex’s phone, Ellie felt a mix of emotions–disappointment, sadness, bitterness. She just really uncomfortable inside.

“My parents eventually caved in, but Alex wouldn’t quit his job the prosecutor’s office to com, work for me. What do you want me to do?!”
Ellic pushed down the discomfort bubbling inside her and spoke out the words she had been holding back. “Remember that day when the three of us were chatting? You said Alex was too superficial and shameless, that he wasn’t even a quarter as good as Aaron.
“Then, that evening, you took the doll Aaron got you and went

Ellie’s voice caught in her throat. “If you want to hear more, I have plenty more I could say.”
“How do you know all this?” Haley stammered, her eyes shifting nervously.
Ellic pressed on, “So you finally admit it, huh? Haley, haven’t we been friends for years? Can’t we be honest with each other?
