Alex feigned ignorance, his eyes dropping back to the downment Whar meident
“Ellie’s kids got bullied at school, and you swooped in, bought out Clank Sheppard’s shares in it Group at a bargain price. and forced him to move his family abroad, and even got Barry appointed at the new principal. You think I didn’t notice?”
Layton’s sharp eyes locked onto Alex’s expression. Alex set the document down and rated an eyebrow. “You really want in know**
“Cut the crap,” Layton waved dismissively.
“Too bad. I’m not telling” Alex shot back, giving Layton a look that screamed. (Good luck figuring it out
Layton took a deep breath, then chuckled. He pulled out his phone, opened a photo, and shoved it in Alex’s face. “Check this out. Your wedding photo with your girlfriend.”
“Bull.” Alex muttered, glancing at the screen. The photo showed him on a beach, holding hands with a woman whose face was turned toward the ocean.
Alex pushed the phone away, but Layton shoved it back. “Take a closer look. Don’t you remember?”
Alex stared at Layton, who gave him a knowing look. “Fine, let me see,” Alex said, reaching for the phone. Layton quickly pulled it back.
“Nope, not letting you see!” He was certain Alex hadn’t recognized the woman in the photo as Ellie.
Barry, standing nearby, watched the exchange silently. Anyone who knew the truth would wonder if Alex had started remembering his past with Ellie and the kids.
But from the looks of it, Alex was still clueless. He just had a thing for Ellie–his taste hadn’t changed, even if his memory
had.
“So, I heard you’re taking Todd and Nancy to Bondie Private Hospital this afternoon to meet Orion?” Layton changed the subject.
At the mention of Orion, Alex’s expression turned serious. This day had come later than expected, but it wasn’t too late. At least his parents were still alive, the Warren family was still intact, and the Warren Group was still standing.

Later that afternoon, at Bondie Private Hospital. At Orion’s request, Ellie was to remove the bandages from his face before Alex brought their parents to the hospital.
“I can’t do it. I’ll wait outside,” Linda Janssen said nervously, turning to leave.
Orion reached out and caught her wrist. “Linda, you’re the one who’s been taking care of me. You should do it.”
“But I’m so nervous! Orion.” Linda clenched her fists, her voice trembling.

When she first started caring for Orion, she hadn’t been afraid, even when half his face was severely injured. She had handled every dressing change and post–op care without flinching. But now, for the final bandage removal, she was a bundle
of nerves.
‘Don’t be scared, Linda. Orion trusts you, Ellie said, handing her the scissors.
Just give me a minute, Orion, Linda said, taking deep breaths to calm herself.
“It’s okay. I believe in you,” Orion said, releasing her wrist. With Ellie’s guidance, Linda carefully removed the bandages from Orion’s face.
‘Orion, you look amazing! Linda was the first to see Orion’s fully healed face, and she burst into tears.
“Congratulations, Mr. Warren. Your face has completely recovered,” Ellie said, genuinely happy for the Warren family as she looked at Orion’s face, which bore a striking resemblance to Alex’s.
“Thank you, Dr. Thompson. You’ve done an incredible job,” Orion said.
