Quinlee’s eyes widened as she took in Alex’s lean, muscular build, his meticulously styled hair, and his strikingly handsome. face. She was practically trembling with excitement, barely holding herself back from lunging forward!
“Mr. Warren, I must apologize for the misunderstanding last time. Your mother and my aunt were just talking about you yesterday. They mentioned inviting us to the Warren Manor soon,” Quinlee said, trying to maintain her composure but failing to hide her excitement.
“Just play along and say you’re my girlfriend,” Alex whispered to Ellie, pulling her close. Ellie tried to pull away, but Alex tightened his grip.
“It’s better if you explain it yourself. I’m tired, so I’ll leave you two to chat,” Ellie muttered under her breath.
“Three minutes to get rid of her, or I’ll make you shop with me for five more hours. Your choice,” Alex said, his lips brushing her ear.
Ellie sighed internally. “Mr. Warren, who is this?” she asked, playing along.
Quinlee’s face fell as she watched Alex whisper to Ellie.
“Let me introduce you. This is my girlfriend,” Alex said, ignoring Ellie’s protests and introducing her to his former blind date.
Quinlee stared at Ellie in disbelief. “Mr. Warren, you can’t be serious. Our date was just a few weeks ago.”
“I’ve been his girlfriend for years,” Ellie said, clearing her throat and forcing a smile. If it meant avoiding five more hours of shopping, she’d play along for three minutes.
“If you’re his girlfriend, why did he go on a date with me?” Quinlee asked, clearly unwilling to accept the truth.
Ellie leaned in and whispered, “Because he’s a player. He loves pretending to be different people and dating multiple women. It’s not just about money or looks–he could give you an STD.” Quinlee’s face turned pale.
Before Ellie could say more, Alex pulled her back and, in front of everyone, kissed her on the corner of her mouth.
“Even if I’m a player, I only play with you, you heartless woman,” Alex said, smirking as he led Ellie away, leaving Quinlee stunned.
Ellie was still in a daze even after they stepped into the elevator. ‘Alex just took advantage of me! Big time!‘ she thought, her mind reeling. She felt like she’d just lost her wallet–completely off–balance and unsettled.
Alex was buzzing with energy. He pushed, pulled, tugged, and even wrapped an arm around her as they walked, steering her with an almost manic enthusiasm. Ellie barely had time to process what was happening before he whisked her into a high- end restaurant.
Soft music played in the background, and the air was filled with the scent of roses. They sat across from each other, and Ellie’s frown deepened as she realized they were in a couples‘ themed high–end restaurant.
The waiter served their meals and left. Alex swapped his plate of cut steak with Ellie’s. “It was just a kiss for show. No need to look so upset.”
Ellie looked down at the perfectly cut steak, her expression softening slightly. She took a deep breath and picked up her fork. She had promised to thank him, and she’d already bought him a suit. One meal, and she’d be done.
