Lacey looked up and saw Mark in the hallway, along with Alex and Ellic.
The expression on her face froze at once, and the shyness from just now hadn’t completely faded yet.
“Mr. Scott, this way, please,” Alex quickly came back to his senses. He grabbed Ellie and walked Jesse and other people downstairs.
“Hello, Lacey,” Mark greeted her politely.
Lacey hugged the doll in her arms, obviously at a loss.
“Hello, Sebastian Emerson, Lacey’s friend.” The young man politely took off his mask, revealing exquisite features.
“Hello, Mark Grant.” Mark shook his hand politely. He only introduced his name.
“Well, Sebastian, your car is here. Be careful not to be photographed by reporters. We’ll be in touch,” Lacey reminded Sebastian to leave first.
After politely saying goodbye, Sebastian put on his mask and left first.
“Let’s go.” Mark just turned around and didn’t say anything else, nor did he ask anything.

“I’m sorry, Mark. I didn’t mean to lie to you. Sebastian is a celebrity, and he said his whereabouts couldn’t be leaked, so I…” Lacey stood still.
Mark stopped and turned around.
The two of them stood face to face in the hallway. Lacey’s sweet outfit was very eye–catching, while Mark’s mature style was perfectly executed.
Mark looked at Lacey but didn’t step forward. He looked at the doll Lacey was holding.
He was silent for a long while before he said casually, “I understand. Let’s go.”
Mark turned around again. Lacey panicked and rushed forward to grab him.
“I’m sorry, Mark. I was the one who asked you out to dinner and then lied to you about having something to deal with at my mom’s,” Lacey said anxiously with red eyes.
“You have your reasons. You don’t have to keep apologizing to me.” Mark reached out and tapped Lacey’s nose. Then he took her hand and went downstairs.
When the two left the hotel, Alex and Ellie had already seen those people off.
“Mr. Warren, thank you so much for today.” Mark was as gentle as usual.
“This is not enough. You have to treat me to dinner sometime,” Alex seized the opportunity to make a request, but his gaze was fixed on Ellie.
“Mark, I’ll send Mr. Warren home first.” Ellie glanced worriedly at Lacey, who had fallen completely silent beside
“Mr. Warren, are we going back to the company or to your place?” Ellie asked, turning to look at Alex after fastening her seat
belt.
Alex reclined his seat, laid down and closed his eyes to take a rest. “I have a meeting this afternoon. Head to the company.”

Ellie didn’t say anything else and just concentrated on driving Alex to the company.
“I’m having a headache. Take me back to my place,” Alex suddenly spoke up when the car was about to arrive at Warren Group headquarters building.
Ellie pulled over. She looked at Alex, feeling speechless.
“Didn’t you say you were going to the hospital this afternoon to look after your son? Hurry up. Don’t waste time.” Alex opened his eyes, glanced at Ellie, and then closed his eyes again.
Ellie took a deep breath to hold back herself. Then she drove Alex back to his place.
When they arrived downstairs at the apartment building, no matter how many times she tried, she just couldn’t wake Alex
- up.
Ellie checked the time and drove directly to the hospital, letting Alex sleep in the passenger seat.
After arriving at the parking lot in front of the hospital’s outpatient building, Ellie unbuckled her seat belt and turned off the
car.
Seeing that Alex was still sleeping in the passenger seat, Ellie didn’t wanna try to wake him up anymore. She just rolled down the window a little so that he wouldn’t run out of air.
Just as she picked up her bag and was about to get out of the car, Alex grabbed her arm.
Alex said, “Why didn’t you keep the bracelet I gave you well and let someone else take it?”
Alex was half–lying in the passenger seat. He held Ellie with one hand and unbuckled his seat belt with the other.
Ellie met Alex’s clear eyes and couldn’t help but frown. “You were awake?”
Alex said, “Answer my question.”
