Chapter 669
Alex raised an eyebrow in confusion.
Ellie said, “You’re not ‘hungry. If you’re really ‘hungry‘, you can eat anything, no matter whether it’s medium–rare and vanilla–aged or not.”
After Ellie finished her comment, she forked a piece of steak and put it into her mouth.
Alex looked at Ellie in silence.
Alex said, “I’m picky. I won’t eat anything that doesn’t suit my taste, even if I’ll starve to death.”
Alex glanced at Ellie complicatedly. Then he looked away and continued eating.
After a while, seeing Ellie keep silent, Alex said with implication, “I wonder if you’re picky, Dr. Thompson.”
Ellie said, “I’m not. I’ll eat anything when I’m hungry.”
The sound of a fork scraping against a plate sounded as Alex’s fork slipped out of his plate.
He didn’t move but just looked at Ellie.
Alex suddenly stood up, walked over to Ellie, and sat down next to her.
He turned Ellie’s body, placing one hand on the back of her chair and the other taking the glass from her hand.
He forced Ellie to meet his gaze and said earnestly, “You’re not picky because you’ve never had something good.”
Alex spread his long legs and pulled Ellie and her chair closer.
He said, “I guarantee that after you start dating me, you won’t be interested in anyone else.”
Ellie said, “But you’re not my type. We have no affection at all. We need at least a period of getting to know each other.”
“We’ll have affection after doing more intimate things,” Alex said to Ellie seriously.
Ellie didn’t know how to respond to that, so she chose to remain silent.
Soon, a phone call relieved Ellie’s embarrassment.
“Lacey, don’t cry. I’ll be right there.” Ellie hung up the phone and was about to leave.
“I’ll give you a ride.” Seeing that Ellie had something to deal with, Alex could only stand up.
Ellie said, “No, it’s fine. She’s in the hotel room. I’ll go upstairs to meet her.”
Before leaving with her bag, Ellie looked back and reminded Alex, “You’ve drunk wine, so let Barry pick you up or take a taxi. Don’t drive home by yourself.”
In the crowded restaurant, Alex walked up to Ellie with a smile.

Alex bent down slightly. Meeting her shocked and flustered gaze, he felt a surge of tenderness and gave her another quick peck on the lips.
Ellie lifted her hand angrily to slap him. Alex straightened up, and her palm landed on his chest.
“I’ll deal with you later.” Ellie hurried off to meet Lacey.
“Good for you,” a teasing voice came from behind. Alex turned to find Layton sitting in his seat.
Alex said, “Your scar from your wife’s slap hasn’t even faded yet. How dare you show up in front of me?”
Alex sat down in Ellie’s seat, picked up her fork, and took a bite of steak.
Layton gave him a scornful glance and said, “Ellie’s not interested in you at all. Look how smug you are.”
Alex glanced at him and said, “Women are fickle creatures. You’re an old married man. You know nothing.”
Layton retorted, “If you really know them well, why are you still single? Ellie comes from a wealthy family. She can date anyone she wants. Don’t get cocky.”
With a smug look, Alex said arrogantly, “So what?
“She’s been with another man and has two children. She should be grateful to meet someone like me. Even if I just dated her and never married her, she’d still be willing.”
Alex looked so cocky and arrogant. He then shot Luke a provocative glance and said, “It’s so easy to take her down.”
Under the table, Layton kicked Alex hard.
Just as Alex was about to get angry, he followed Layton’s gaze and saw Ellie standing not far away.
Alex didn’t know what to say.
Ellie walked to the table calmly and picked up the car keys left on it.
She glanced at Alex coldly and said, “Go on.”
