Chapter 672
“I’ll help,” Alex offered when Ellie ignored him, quickly grabbing the bags.
“I’ve thought it over carefully. Alex, we’re not close enough for me to accept random gifts from you. Please take them back,” Ellie said, glancing away. Alex stood at her door in a white bathrobe and slippers, holding several shopping bags.
“Everything I said tonight, I didn’t mean it!”
When Ellie blocked the door, Alex began shoving the bags inside through the crack. She blocked the top, he shoved from below. She blocked the bottom, he went for the top again.
“Don’t be mad,” Alex cautiously moved closer, testing the waters by reaching for her hand.
Ellie let him hold her hand and asked, “You really didn’t mean it?”
Alex nodded fervently.
“Alright, let go first,” Ellie said. Alex obediently released her hand.
“Yeah, right!” Ellie muttered as she spun around and slammed the door in his face.
Alex stood there for a moment, stunned.
Back in his room, Alex grew restless, unable to fall asleep.
To make things worse, Layton texted, mocking him about how it felt to “play his cards” with Ellie.
Still in his white bathrobe and holding a floral quilt he’d swiped from Ellie’s car, Alex paced back and forth in his massive living room. His gaze eventually settled on the wall behind the TV. He tapped it thoughtfully.
Although my place is soundproofed, a bit of noise may carry through, right?‘ he wondered.
He then began knocking on random objects in the living room–vases, trash cans, a baseball bat, even a couple of bowls.
Next door, Ellie had just finished her shower when she heard the noise. Standing still for a moment, she confirmed it was coming from Alex’s side. Returning to her bedroom, she shut the door, but the faint noise persisted.
Frustrated, Ellie grabbed her phone to message Alex, threatening to call the property manager to report him.
The moment she sent the text, the noise stopped. Relieved, she turned off the lights and got into bed. But not even a minute later, the noise started again.
This time, Ellie didn’t hesitate. She got out of bed and stormed next door. Halfway there, she stopped, turned back, and rummaged through a small metal box in her living room’s first–aid kit. She pulled out a silver acupuncture needle.
Ringing Alex’s doorbell, she waited as he quickly came to open it.
Stepping inside, Ellie immediately spotted the chaotic mess beneath the TV–vases, a trash can, a baseball bat, and two bowls among other things.
“It’s the middle of the night! Can’t people get some rest?” she snapped, her eyes landing on the small floral quilt Alex clutched. She reached out to grab it.
Alex pulled back, cradling the quilt like treasure. “You’re such a bandit! First thing you do is steal!”
“Mr. Warren, some of us have work tomorrow. Could you stop being so childish?”

Chapter 672
Seeing Ellie upset, Alex cautiously edged closer, his voice soft. It’s only ten. I just wanted to talk. I swear I won’t keep you up.
Clutching the quilt. Alex leaned in pitifully. “Don’t be mad. Next time I say something stupid, you can sew my mouth shut, okay?
Ellie stood still, letting Alex’s face inch closer.
Then, with a sharp thud Alex collapsed to the floor. Ellie calmly withdrew the silver needle from her hand.
That’s what you get! Ellie huffed, stomping awzy.
But after a few steps, she turned back. Seeing Alex sprawled out on the floor, still hugging the quilt with his long legs exposed, she hesitated.
