Chapter 674
Ellie was completely enveloped by Alex’s presence. She could smell the faint mix of his cool woody scent and alcohol. His warm breath lingered near her ear, making Ellie shrink back.
Through the car window, she saw the group of people wandering nearby but not approaching. Ellie placed her hand back on the car door handle.
“They’re looking for you, aren’t they?” Alex’s voice came from above her, “Your kids are adorable, Dr. Thompson. Are you sure you want to get out?”
Ellie looked up at him. “What are you planning, Mr. Warren?”
Alex wasn’t wrong. Her two kids were waiting for her at home. She couldn’t act impulsively and risk their safety.
Alex pressed a button, raising the divider in the luxury car and creating a private space in the backseat. His hands grabbed her waist, pulling her onto his lap.
Alex said, “Be my woman, and I’ll keep you safe.”
Feeling Alex’s hands restlessly moving up and down her waist, Ellie stopped struggling.
She couldn’t help but recall Haley’s words and the venomous glare she gave before she died, ‘It’s clear now–Haley must have dragged me into that mess before her death, exposing me to those drug lords!‘
Jason had warned me before heading to the military base. The drug cartel leader might have been captured, but his elder brother Leon was still hiding abroad with some remaining members, ready for revenge, she thought.
Without solid evidence, the police couldn’t provide her with 24/7 protection, and she couldn’t just hide at home, giving up work and life.
Ellie was deep in her thoughts, ‘If I step out of Alex’s car, I would be taken by those people. Although Alex has shown interest in me, this unpredictable man might not lift a finger to help me if I’m in danger.’
Their eyes met. Ellie suppressed her emotions and asked, “How does this work?”
“However you want it to work. All you have
to do is sleep with me,” Alex replied smugly, brushing her lips with a light kiss.
Ellie turned her head slightly, dodging his playful advance.
Sitting on his lap, enveloped in his arms and scent, Ellie’s face darkened. “Mr. Warren, taking advantage of the situation might backfire on you!”
If she told him now that he’d lost his memory and they had a history, Alex would just think she was making it up to trick him! It wouldn’t help her case.
Alex tightened his hold, pulling her even closer.
“You called me a profiteer, Dr. Thompson. So how could I ever make a losing deal?” Alex whispered in her ear, satisfied as he held her. “You know exactly what I want.”
Ellie kept her emotions in check as she stared at Alex.
Jason was at the military base, and her aunt Whitney would be moving there with the kids next month. Soon, the only ones left at home would be Joanna, Aaron, Diana, and the two kids.
Even though Aaron and Diana were skilled, they were in their honeymoon phase. It wouldn’t be long before Diana became pregnant.
