Ellie stumbled backward after being pushed by Alex and crashed into a table. The cup on the table tipped over, spilling hot water onto Ellie’s hand.
Ellie quickly pulled her hand back when it got burned. Seeing her hand quickly turn red, she turned and walked away.
Ellie thought, Just because I’m poor, do I have to accept Haley’s pology? I don’t accept Haley’s apology, so they think I’m ungrateful.
Ellie fought back tears of frustration. She thought, Alex always hurts me without holding back.
“Let me see!” Alex forcibly grabbed Ellie’s wrist as she tried to walk away, holding her as he checked her hand.
“Let go!” Ellie shouted, pulling away from Alex, no longer caring that they were in a restaurant, in public.
Alex held onto Ellie’s wrist firmly, meeting her eyes full of frustration, his gaze wavering a bit. “Can’t you see that Haley wants to make up with you? What’s wrong with me pointing out your attitude towards her?”
Ellie shot back. “I already said I had an appointment and no time but she’s the one who kept stopping me from leaving!”
Ellie lost control of her emotions and struggled intensely despite her wrist aching. “You’ve criticized and shoved me all because of her. Just let go!”
Alex restrained Ellie, watching her break down. A moment of emotion flickered through his eyes. “Stop making a scene. Come with me to the hospital.” Alex instinctively lowered his voice.
Haley jumped in at the chance and said, “Yeah, Ellie, Alex was just so worried about me. That’s why he treated you like that. How will you get to work tomorrow with your hand hurt? Let us take you to see a doctor.”
“I don’t need you to take care of me!” Ellie cried in anger and kicked Alex in frustration.
With a serious expression, Alex tightly gripped Ellie’s waist and lifted her off the ground. “Who allowed you to have such a bad attitude!”
Ellie was carried out of the restaurant by Alex, struggling fiercely I had an appointment. Let me down!”
It
sn’t until they got to the side of the road that Alex finally set Ellie down, “Even if you had an appointment with a ghost, still have to come to the hospital with me!”
Haley saw Alex pulling Ellie along and followed with a serious expression. “Alex, didn’t you say you had something to do tonight? You go ahead, I’ll take Ellie to the hospital, Haley suggested, her eyes on Alex’s hand clutching Ellie’s.
Alex gave Ellie a sharp glare. “She’s incredibly stubborn; you can’t deal with her. You head home first, and I’ll take her to the- hospital,” he said, pulling Ellie away.
Haley felt frustrated but couldn’t show it, so she vented by pacing. Everyone knew by now that Alex was chasing her enthusiastically, and their families had already met. Her parents were even picking a date.
Alex was willing to spend money on Haley. He was more romanc and flamboyant than Aaron. Being with Alex, Haley felt her vanity satisfied like never before.
Everyone in the Owens family viewed her differently because she was dating Alex. She thoroughly enjoyed being pursued by Alex. What Alex could offer her, Aaron couldn’t achieve even he worked a lifetime,
