At around 3 AM, in Ellie’s apartment, Alex helped her sit up to take her medicine and noticed she was trembling badly.

“Come on, be good and take your medicine,” Alex said gently, pulling her into his arms as he gave her the pills. After seeing Ellie take her medicine, he didn’t let her go.
He held Ellie tightly, his voice hoarse without him realizing it as he said, “See if you dare to wander around by yourself at midnight again!”
“Lucky you’re okay, or I’d have definitely dealt with those two jerks!” he said, his eyes red with concern.
He held Ellie in his arms like she was his treasure. With her eyes closed, Ellie felt herself being held tightly by Alex. She wanted to forget everything and just lean into Alex’s arms, relaxing like this.
But she knew she couldn’t. Even though she felt weak all over, she still nudged Alex and said, “Your phone’s been ringing”
“I won’t answer anyone’s call. I’m staying here with you tonight, Alex said, holding her tighter.
Ellie took a deep breath and broke away from Alex’s warm chest to snuggle under the blanket. Hearing Alex’s gentle voice on the phone, she burrowed deeper into the covers.
Since Ellie had a bruise on her face, she took a week off to rest at home. During this time, Haley and Lacey visited once, but when Haley offered to stay and take care of her, Alex said no.
A week later, Ellie was almost fully healed and started to move og from the incident.
After staying at home for a week, Ellie was planning to work part–time at the bar in the evening.
Alex blocked her by the wardrobe, trying to grab the clothes from her hands, and said, “There’s still a bruise at the corner of your eye, take a couple more days to rest.
Ellie tugged at the clothes she was holding and replied. “It’s fine, I’ll just cover it with some concealer,”
Alex freed up a hand and pulled at Ellie’s collar, saying, “Let me see your neck.”
Ellie quickly stepped back to avoid him, saying, “It’s already fine”
“Move your hand so I can check.
“Alex, can you please respect some boundaries?”
“Not for you!”
In their playful tug–of–war, Ellie couldn’t dodge quickly enough and was accidentally pushed into the closet by Alex. Without thinking, Ellie held onto some clothes, unexpectedly pulling Alex in with her.
In the tight space of the closet, there wasn’t any room to dodge, so Alex and Ellie were pressed closely against each other. Alex looked down at her, and their breaths mixed together, with the only sounds being their breathing and beating hearts.
Alex gazed down at Ellie’s slightly open lips, his eyes filled with indescribable emotions. His Adam’s apple moved up and down without him realizing it, as every part of him urged him to kiss her deeply.
