Chapter 20
At twenty–one, they was officially engaged.
The entire Blackthorn Pack knew that their Alpha, Kieran, had chosen his mate.
When he slipped the ceremonial ring onto her finger, marking their bond before the elders
and the moon, Mona could barely hold back her tears.
For a full year, she was lost in the euphoria of love, convinced that nothing could ever
shake their world.
Determined to prove her strength, to show Kieran she was no longer the timid girl who once
flinched at shadows, she insisted on choosing Shadowveil Ridge for trip–a territory at the
very edge of the Blackthorn domain, known for its treacherous terrain and unpredictable
dangers.
It was there that she met her death.
A single, crimson fruit. She had taken one bite.
Then, darkness.
For an entire year, Kieran scoured every inch of that cursed land, leading Shadowfang
Retrieval Pack until their paws were raw and their claws dulled.
And when they finally found her–buried beneath layers of leaves and soil–she was
untouched by time.
Unlike the dead, her body had not decayed. Her skin remained smooth, her form eerily
preserved, as if she had merely fallen into a deep slumber rather than succumbed to death.
He carried her home. He refused to let her go.
For two long years, he watched over her–waiting, hoping, praying.

She was Mona now. Though she was also someone else before—Mina.
But she still accepted the name Kieran called her as Mona,

Kieran stayed with Mona everytime. He feared that if he blinked, if he even turned away for a second, she will disappear.
One quiet morning, as she rested against his chest, feeling the steady rise and fall of his breath, she whispered:
“Kieran, let’s have the mating ceremony.”
He stilled. The muscles beneath hris cheek tensed, his heartbeat hammering faster.
It was what he had wanted to ask from the moment she opened her eyes. But he had hesitated. What if she had forgotten their love? What if she wasn’t ready?
Yet now, here she was, asking him. His answer came without hesitation.
“Yes.”
The bound ceremony was set for the next full moon.
Her recovery was swift.
Within weeks, she was strong enough to leave the pack’s healing quarters.

Chapter 20
Yet as she stepped out of the infirmary, the sunlight hitting her skin, a strange sense of dissonance swept over her.
Something felt… incomplete.
Memories flickered–ones that didn’t belong to her, not to Mona.
Like a pull from an unseen force, her steps led her upward, toward the highest tower.
The guards that should have been stationed outside were gone. The hall was eerily silent. And the moment she stepped inside, she felt it.
An overwhelming sense of sorrow. The white walls were sterile, lifeless–yet the air was heavy, almost suffocating.
She reached the final door and pushed it open.
A woman lay on the bed, unmoving. Her skin was pale as snow, her chest so still that she
looked like a corpse.
The moment her fingers brushed against the frail hand resting on the bed, something snapped.
The machines around them began blaring alarms. The room was flooded with red flashing. lights, the sound of distant footsteps rushing toward them.
Mona gripped the bed’s railing, trying to steady herself against the onslaught of unfamiliar memories flooding into her mind.
Visions of another life.
Another soul.
