Chapter 8
Everyone’s eyes lit up. “It’s Shirley! Great, you’re not dead!”
I didn’t have time to pay attention to them.
With one hand, I grabbed Linda, who was trying to escape, and cupped her chin with the other.
“Give me back my last wish.”
Linda screamed, and her demonic, beautiful face instantly twisted into something hideous and grotesque.
All my wishes were returned to me, and I felt my body surge with power.
A wolf appeared next to my leg, nuzzling it affectionately.
was none other than my wolf, Lena, who had disappeared for years.
“Lena,” I whispered, stroking her head. “You’re back. I missed you.”
“I’m glad to see you again,” Lena said gently. “Looks like you’ve corrected your mistake, haven’t you?”
Linda covered her face, shaking her head. “Shirley, I didn’t want to hurt you. It was them, your family and loved ones who did this to you! Please let me go…” She clung to my legs, begging, “Please, don’t take away this wish. Without the divine power that face gives me, I’ll die soon!”
I ignored Linda’s cries, the same way no one had listened to my cries when I was locked in the basement.
”
Soon, Linda, her power dissipating, turned into a cloud of ash and was carried away by the
wind.
Alexander laughed happily. “Well done, sister. No need to show mercy to that vicious
vampire.”
I turned to him, my tone calm but laced with doubt.
“Sister? Didn’t you stab me in the leg and disown me as your sister?”
Alexander’s face went pale, and he smiled bitterly. “Sister, it was all my fault. Whether you hit me or scold me, we’re still family…”
“Yes, Shirley, we are family.”
My mother, her voice strained, tried to approach me slowly.
“I’m ten months pregnant, and I’ve raised you for so many years. How can this favor be broken so easily? Mom confesses to you. Come back to me, please.”
Looking at my remorseful family, I shook
my head.
“The remorse you all have now… is it because of your love for me, or because you want me
help you return to your original state?”
I smiled bitterly to myself. “I think it’s the latter. Otherwise, how could you all have grounded me and beaten me until I miscarried without a care, all because of Linda’s words?”
The family seemed about to say something, but I turned and walked away.
Just then, a pair of hands wrapped tightly around me from behind.
The familiar scent of amber and pine filled the air, a fragrance that once intoxicated me, but now only broke my heart.
Drew’s eyes were filled with sadness as he pleaded, “Shirley, don’t go. Don’t leave me. I want to be with you forever.”
I laughed aloud at his serious words.
Drew, where were you when I had my miscarriage? You were fucking Linda! Do you think I don’t know that? It didn’t even take my parents putting an aphrodisiac on you. You were already seduced into bed with Linda!”
Drew closed his eyes in agony and shook his head desperately.
“No, no, she’s the one who lied to me, you’re my Luna.”
Hearing those words, I drifted off for a moment, thinking of the man who had seriously sworn to me by pointing at the moon on the night of the full moon.
“Shirley, you are the only Luna for me, and whether you are a messenger sent by the moon goddess or a most common werewolf, I will cherish you and love you every second of my life.”
The memory of it all now feels like a knife in my heart.
I stopped paying attention to their reactions and turned to leave after leaving my last words.
“You don’t have to look around for me while I’m gone, I’m not coming back, never again.”
After returning to the moon, the Moon Goddess embraced me warmly, her arms around me filled with compassion.
She handed me a mirror, and in its reflection, I saw the final fate of the Walker family and Drew.
Jones Walker was taken by the Council of Wolves that very day.
Soon after, it was revealed that he had an extensive record of bribery, and decades of imprisonment awaited him.
Shakira Walker was left to languish in sickness.
All her possessions were confiscated, and she had to rely on cheap medicines to maintain a
normal life.
Alexander lost his legs and was exposed for falsely earning his war honors. He was locked
i a military prison, awaiting trial.
And Drew, the former Alpha, who had once excelled at his role, could no longer manage.
After botching several important events, he was ousted as Alpha by his own brother.
Reduced to a common werewolf, he became the target of bullying and ridicule.
But this time, there would be no kind woman willing to throw everything away to be with him for the long haul.
His life was one of endless remorse.
I returned the mirror to the Moon Goddess. From it, his hoarse voice still echoed, “If there’s a next life, I must treat her well. I can’t lose her again…”
I ignored it.
And then, once again, I descended to earth as a divine messenger.
But this time, I was no longer shackled by love. I helped more people move towards a better life.
