As our lips touched, it felt like I was drowning in a sea of emotions. I knew from the moment I joined her in the water that it was a bad idea but I just couldn’t resist it
I had been fighting my feelings all night, being so close to her, her delicious vanilla and wild rose scent assaulting my senses. Silver growled in excitement, making me struggle to control my desire.
She pulled back, her eyes wide and cheeks flushed. Gosh, she looked adorable.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.” I muttered, swimming a few paces back to calm my nerves..
She nodded and turned to swim away as I facepalmed myself, annoyed I almost lost control.
A school of fish tickled my feet and swarm towards her direction, prompting a yell from her as she slipped on some rocks underneath. Unconsciously my arms found their way around her to stop her from slipping
“I got you. Are you okay?” Lasked, trying to ignore the feeling of her skin against mine as she gazed up at me, her chest heaving.
“Y–yeah, she breathed, her pupils dilating, and the leash on my self–control snappet
I crashed my lips against hers hungrily, feeling the familiar swirl of emotions. My senses felt more alive than ever.
I felt her arms go around my neck, and I pulled her closer, deepening the kiss, my hand exploring the curves and molds of her body. I had touched Evie, my late wife before but it didn’t compare to this.
The passion and heat I felt were nothing close to how ablaze my body felt. Our lips moved in perfect symphony, and every fibre of my body screamed for more, craved for more of her sweetness.

She pulled back in shock, swimming more than a few paces away The kiss was over just as suddenly as it had begun.
My head shot up, looking at the bank to see who dared interrupt
“I’m sorry Alpha. I got the drugs you requested. The driver bowed, facing the opposite side.
“Leave.” I barked out, annoyed at the interruption and hurried out of the stream.
I glanced at Mallory and saw she was fixing her shoes. She looked up and turned away, avoiding my eyes.
Oh crap. This wasn’t supposed to happen.
I walked back to the camp area and saw she had shut herself in the makeshift teht I instructed the driver to make
“Mallory!” I called out, pacing gently across the tent.
She parted a little opening and looked through
“Hey, I don’t think there’s enough room in here for two. You can sleep here and I’ll stay in the car.” She blurted out, looking everywhere else but at ine.
I sighed and rolled my eyes.
“You can stay in the tent. I came to give you some drugs. You didn’t look so good in the car I handed her the drugs and

The rest of the trip back was spent in total silence. Mallory kept her distance and didn’t say more than two words to me throughout the journey back home.
As we drew closer to the park, I could sense the tension in the air. The usual chatter that always greeted my ears was empty and the guards stationed at the gate were missing. There was the faint smell of smoke in the air. I exchanged a wary glance with Mallory, my heart sinking.
“It looks different. She commented, glancing around.
“Something’s wrong” I nodded and hurried out as the car came to a halt. I walked towards the back area, as the sound of voices reached my ears.
“What’s going on?” I demanded, seeing Kelvin, my beta, amid the fray.
The whole area went silent as they became aware of my presence
Welcome back, Alpha.” They chorused.
“Kelvin!” I growled, ignoring their greeting desperate to know what the chaos was about.
“We have an issue concerning the new wolves we accepted. Let’s talk inside. You must be exhausted.” He said, knowing fully well that he was in trouble.
I was gone for a day and returned to meet my pack in disorder.
“Everyone, back to your posts!” I thundered, making them all scramble away.
I headed towards my office and saw Mallory making her way towards her bedroom.
“Hey, is everything alright?” She asked
“Yes, it’s under control now. You should get some rest.” I answered, my eyes darting from her lips to her eyes, memories of last night flooding my mind.
She nodded and walked off escorted by her maids.
Snapping back to reality I entered my office followed by Kelvin my heels and poured myself a drink ignoring Silver’s complaint.
“I hate alcohol” he growled
“Shut up.” I hissed, allowing the hot liquid to tickle my throat.
“Now explain!” 1 barked as Kelvin sat opposite me.
“The issue concerning the breach by the Moonshade pack caused this.”
I lifted an eyebrow in response urging him to go on.

“The new wolves were on guard assist duty last night and got into a fight with some members of the moonshade pack who breached our perimeters.
Two of our members were injured and the third is still unconscious.”
I sat up in my seat uncomfortably, pissed at the new development.
“You mentioned most of the new members hadn’t gotten their wolves yet right?”
“Yes.” He answered, avoiding my gaze. He already figured out the direction I was heading,
“How can you allow members who can’t protect themselves yet to join the guards?” I questioned, my voice rising.
Kelvin shrank back at my outburst. “I refused their request. But they insisted, preferring to help out the guards for a few hours
I shook my head calmly, wondering how my beta could be so stupid.
“Were the Moonshade pack members caught?”
“Yes. They’ve been locked up in the dungeon. I decided to wait for your arrival before any further action was taken.”
“We are heading over to Moonshade pack. I announced, feeling unsettled.
This issue was more than meets the
eye.
