Chapter 13
**Mallory**
My heart pounded heavily in my chest as I raced through the bushes feeling the cold wind slap my cheeks.
I paused and leaned on a tree bark, resting my hands on my knees as a heavy breath tore through my lips.
Boy, this body is weak.
Before I died. I always exercised and practiced to keep my stamina up and also hoping that one day I’d shift into my wolf when my stamina was fully gained.
But living in the body of Evie, I realized how strong my previous body was.
I sat down underneath a wide sycamore tree and took a big swing of my water, my mind racing with thoughts.
Ivan’s handsome image brushed through my mind. The way he looked at me, his eyes shooting proud stars when I put Shireen in her place and how his words always seemed to calm me down.
If only he was mine.
I shook my head to disperse the unruly thoughts. We had goals to fulfill after which our agreement will come to an end and he never has to see my face anymore.
It’s bad enough I’m in the body of his late wife. Poor guy can’t even mourn her without seeing me and thinking I’m a ghost.
Snap!
The sound of a twig snapping made me shoot my head up. The wolves of Moonshade pack were aware of Ivan and I presence and the guard assured me the fields were empty and safe to take a run in,
A cold wind blew past me creating goosebumps on my skin and a shiver ran through me. I suddenly had the feeling of being watched. Like a prey
Someone or something was in the woods.
I picked my water bottle and zipped up my jacket and briskly started making my way out of the field.
My path was covered with huge trees and creeping vines hindering my pace and causing me to slow down.
Grrrr!
I froze in my tracks, the unmistakable sound of a werewolf growing in my ear.
I turned towards the sound, gripping my water bottle tightly like weapon.
My eyes met a pair of blood red eyes and bared teeth streaked with glittering saliva.
A woll
I stumbled back and landed on the floor, my hands hastily spreading out in search of a suitable weapon to defend myself but found none.
The wolf approached, slowly and menacing, taking its sweet time to terrify and spook its victim which was definitely working on me as I panicked and a scream left my lips.
As he increased his pace, I felt my bones start to ache and a strange dizziness wash over me

Chapter 13
An unbearable itch followed prompting a groan to escape my lip and halting my movements.
What was going on?
I completely forgot about the danger before me as the pain spread through my bones, accompanied with the intense itch that made me want to tear my skin off, took over my senses.
I curled my body to a fetal position as I felt my bones shift gradually, each movement feeling like thousands of tiny pins pricking my skin and a sledgehammer, hammering at me.
My eyes watered and through its corners, I noticed the predator, pause and stare with curious eyes and its fangs still bared in a snarling position.
Was I shifting??
Ohhh no! I panicked internally, gritting my teeth as another round of pain tore through my spine as I felt it shifting
Sharp claws grew out of my manicured fingernails, and the metallic smell of blood filtered into my senses. I had grazed myself in my squirming position.
A light dusting of white hair coated my skin and I felt my vision gradually blur as the colour changed to grey.
My teeth ached as it grew in size with my canine nearly touching my chin.
Wait.. it wasn’t a chin anymore, but a smooth cold nozzle which blew out a visible puff of air.
The pain continued to wreak through my body but I had done it
I shifted at last.
My attention returned to the predator baring its fangs at me. At the completion of my shifting, its eyes turned more menacing and it positioned itself like it was about to jump.
I ignored the pain running through me and stood on all four wobbling slightly.
I struggled to adjust my vision to my wolf eyes which gave me a new dimension.
The pains I felt stopped.
I focused my sight on the predator before me, taking a step back and moving in a circle.
He followed my movement, his raging eyes not leaving mine and I noticed a crest on his fur.
It was the symbol of the Moonshade pack.
He was the alpha and is probably thinking I’m an intruder.
There was no way I could communicate with him in my wolf form and I’m unable to establish a–mind link.
Hopefully, someone finds us. Hopefully Ivan finds me.
I let out a loud howl as he leapt from his crouched position at me and I stretched out a clawed paw to block his attack.
My slurp claws did nothing to affect him and I felt my gaze gradually weaken and another round of pain tore through me.
“No. no I’m still in danger, wait Kira” I called out desperately to my wolf, trying to stop the process of shifting back.
My claws retracted just as my vision caught the Alpha wolf leaping and descending on my already weakened body.

Chapter 13
“Arghh”
A painful yell tore through me as he pressed me into the sharp stones and grass.
A loud thumping of feet was heard and a guttural yell shook the trees as a large Lycan wolf pushed the Alpha off me. slamming him against the bark of a tree.
“Ivan.” I breathed, my lips spread in a weak smile and he transformed back to his human form and walked towards me, cradling my bruised body in his arms.
I focused on his worried eyes which gazed intently into mine feeling the short skin hair receded and my eye color gradually. returned back to normal.
“Are you hurt?”
I ignored the pounding headache that was tearing through my head and smiled up at him before resting my head against
his chest.
“I finally shifted. But I failed, it didn’t last for more than a minute I poured.
He let out a deep breath, wiping sweat off his brow before a chuckle tore through him.
You’ll get stronger. Good girl. He murmured against my hair.
“Alpha Ivan.” A voice called out. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t aware it was our Luna.”
Ivan’s head snapped up and his eyebrows furrowed.
He narrowed his eyes as he stared at that Alpha of Moonshade pack.
“Alpha Tommen,” he began, his voice low and menacing “If I was any second late, you’d have ripped my wife to pieces.” Ivan thundered and his hands stopped stroking my hair,
I missed the warmth and screamed internally for it to return.
“I apologize Alpha Ivan. I thought I was an intruder.
She’s injured from shifting, please return to your quarters so she can be treated.”
Ivan looked like he could rip alpha Tommen to shreds and 1 stretched out my hand weakly to hold him back.
“Let’s go Ivan.” I coaxed, feeling a wave of dizziness hit me.
He gave the alpha a hard look before lifting me in his arms and walking
out of the field.
I let myself melt into his strong coarse arms, feeling the heat frein both our skin and surrendered to my tiredness,
