Chapter 17
Where are we on the files Lasked you to get?” I asked as Kelvin walked in.
“Right here. The majority of Pixie village was reduced to ruins by a fire three months ago and has been closed by the kingdoin for rehabilitation. But there’s a slight chance there is still unburnt information in the place.” he answered reading from a thick blue file.
“Good. We’ll depart in two days”
I fixed my gaze on the window overlooking the pack members going about their chores and waited for the sound of the door closing which didn’t come.
I turned and caught Kelvin staring at me with an intense look on his face.
“What
“What’s going on with you?” He shot a question back at me.” You have been cooped up in your office for the past three days.”
“None of your business. I shot back at him, exasperation rising in me.
Since I said those words to Mallory, I have been avoiding her not wanting to see the hurt on her face and the cold look she threw at me each time.
Silver kept whining and whining and I kept drowning him out with alcohol.
The office has been a haven to avoid Mallory, as there was no way of running into her there.
“C’mon Ivan, spill it out. I might have a solution.” Kelvin prodded, a smirk playing around his lips.
A heavy sigh left my lips and I closed my eyes and ran a palm over my tired face.
“I said some mean words to Evie,” I admitted my voice low and tinged with guilt.
“Ohh, then apologize to her,” he said, his face plain like it was a normal act that should follow.
“Apologize?”
I had never offered a heartfelt apology to anyone except when my father–in–law (Evie’s dad) passed away.
Apart from that, I was the Alpha and barely offered apologies to my subjects.
“How do I apologize? I hurt her and doubt she’ll forgive so easily.
Kelvin’s eyes lit up at my question. This jerk was taking delight in my predicament.
Simple. Apologize from your heart. Make sure your words convey how sorry you are, and bonus tip: add a romantic gesture.”
“A romantic gesture?” my curiosity heightened and I ran through my memory for what Mallory likes.
Evie was a more conservative person and was happy with just spending time with me and I hardly bothered to woo her or even give her anything termed as romantic.
The best thing I did was throw a party for her last birthday which she spent in a hospital ward.

Chapter 17
“What does Luna Evie Hike?” Kelvin asked, picking up
aking un à pen and paper and waiting for my answer.
Evie loved flowers. Blue flowers, to be specific, but she wasn’t Evie anymore but Mallory..
For all I know she could be allergic to flowers as I had never seen her around any. Even in her bedroom.
“She loves to eat,” I answered, keeping my expression calm.
Kelvin remained silent for some seconds before bursting into a chuckle, clapping his hands in response.
“Everyone loves to cat Ivan. But that gives me a fantastic idea. You should arrange dinner for Her.
Just two of you. And during the course of it, you apologize to her
“Your friend has more sense than you do,” Silver shot at me, awake from his slumber.
“Shut up!”
I turned to Kelvin, my heart getting excited at the thought of a private dinner with Mallory.
“Ask her maid to snoop around and find out her favorite flowers. That could add a nice touch to it.
For the meal, let it be a cheesy tomato pasta and steak.”
From what I have observed, Mallory was a sucker for pasta and made sure it was included at all meal times…
“Yes. I’d set it all up and inform you when it’s ready.” He stood up and left the office.
A smile unconsciously found its way to my lips as I imagined her pleased reaction to the surprise.
Why do I even care about how she feels? I was supposed to be honoring Evie’s memory and keeping her at bay but here I am planning a surprise apology dinner.
Mate bond or not, it looks like she was gradually seeping into my closed heart.
I paced around with my heart in my mouth as I waited for Mallory to show up.
Taking a deep breath, I fixed my gaze on the river and allowed the soothing sound of the rushing water to calm my nerves.
Kelvin had set up the dinner away from the park and next to the river.
A table was set up with a dainty white cover and two lit candles.
Tomato pasta, medium rare steak, complete with a bottle of sparkling champagne, sat on the table with a bouquet of lilies.
The floor around the table was further covered with lily and hibiscus petals.
Fairly lights were strung on the trees, which reflected in the waters, giving a golden glow to the venue.
Kelvin outdid himself and it was truly a breathtaking view,
I hoped Mallory shared the same view when she saw it.
Light footsteps broke through my thoughts and I turned and fell my breath knocked out of me.
She walked in slowly, the helm of her dress held softly in her hand, which was adorned with gold trinkets.

Chapter 17
My gaze traveled to the bodice of her dress, adorned with lace flowers, match
aching the lilies that were strewn on the grass, and the bust of her dress was curved, showing just a slight peek of her bosom, which heaved with every breath she took.
On her neck sat a pearl necklace, which caught the reflection of the fairy light, giving it a glowing look.
I felt my heart race quicken as my gaze rested on her face.
Her undereye were lined with white, and a winged eyeliner was drawn, making her eye shape more feline like and her green. eyes spårkle brightly.
Her cheeks were a rosy pink, making them more prominent, and her lips; Damn! It was painted a light pink, and gloss was added, making it shimmer in the gentle light.
I felt my heart bursting with affection and squeezed my palms to restrain myself from running to her.
“Hiyou look amazing.” I said, finding my voice at last.
“Thank you” She smiled shyly, averting her gaze and taking in the sights.
“This is beautiful.
“I’m glad you like it.” I walked up to her and ushered her into a seat at the other side of the table.
“I–I’m sorry about the mean things I said the other day.
I was rude and insensitive and should never have uttered that to you.” I said meekly, taking my seat opposite her.
“Is that why you did all this?” She asked her eyes on the bouquet of lilies.
“Well, I thought it might be nice to have dinner outside and yes, know my words hurt you and it wasn’t my intention. I was on edge that day.”
She nodded slightly, her eyes finally meeting mine.
I accept your apology and the thought that went into it. Means a lot to me.
And besides, you weren’t wrong. I should be careful about the way I trust people also but I can’t help it sometimes.”
“I understand,” I nodded solemnly,” you don’t have to change yourself because the world is bad.”
She smiled at me and then took a sniff of the flowers, a wide gran breaking on her face.
“Now let’s eat, I’m starving” She said, prompting a chuckle from me.
“How’s the girl, Maya doing?”
“She’s much better. Getting stronger every day.” She replied, scooping a forkful of pasta to her mouth.
Maybe when she’s better she can work as your maid,” I replied, trying to keep an open mind.
“Really? That’s nice. Thank you.
But why the change of heart? You know, her being from Moonpeak and all.” She asked, eyeing me warily.
Well, I just thought it’s better to keep your enemies closer.”
If she is our enemy, which she isn’t.” she shot back..
“Sure Just be careful” I replied, stiffly, and took a spin of champagne.

Chapter 17
“Don’t piss my mate off, just shut up and cat,” Silver snapped at me.
Oh boy! I really wish I could strangle my wolf.
