Chapter 18
**Mallory**
“Are you guys all set?” I asked softly looking up at Ivan who entered the living room.
“Yes, Kelvin is bringing the car around.” He replied.
It’s been a few days since our dinner date, and honestly, I have been confused about how things between me and Ivan were.
We still kept each other at a distance but stole shy glances when we thought the other wasn’t looking
I didn’t know what to make of the feelings swirling in me and avoided closed spaces with him.
I was relieved and disappointed when he revealed he was leaving for pixie village to get a feel of the place before beginning his proposal.
“How long will you guys be away for!” I whispered.
“A day at most. Pixie forest is uninhabited so it’s just a quick dash in and out.”
I nodded gently, my eyes fixed on the clinic papers before me.
“Where is your maid. Maya?” He demanded making my head shoot up.
“I sent her to get something for me. Any problem?”
“No,” he responded and instructed a guard to call Maya in
“Why are you asking about her then and sending someone to get her?”
“You’ll see.” He replied, twirling a rusty bracelet between his fingers.
Maya arrived shortly, her brown eyes wide with fear. I couldn’t blame the poor girl, her first impression of Ivan wasn’t the
best.
You sent for me Alpha Ivan,” she mumbled, her eyes downcast.
“Yes Maya, put this on.” He stretched out the bracelet to Maya who took it with shaky fingers and slipped it through her
hand
As the bracelet touched her wrist, it adjusted in size fitting itself huggly on her wrists.
“That is an Umber bracelet. If you try anything out of the norm, let’s say carrying an unfamiliar substance or weapon, that bracelet will send shockwaves that’ll paralyze you.” Ivan declared
“Wha-”
Ivan continued shutting me off.
“I know what you’re about to say, but it’s harmless to her unless, of course, she tries to harm anyone.
I trust your judgment, Evie, but I need to take measures in case of anything”
Fremained silent, mulling over his words. He made a good point which doused out the boiling fire that brewed in me. jiving the no comeback.
Since he was so distrusting I hoped to prove him wrong with my rust in Maya

“Maya you may leave us. You’ll be okay.”
She bowed and left the room leaving us a
alone.
“Shouldn’t you be on your way?” I sneered, wiping off the feelings that blossomed with the apology dinner.
He was still very much a jerk but that date was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for me.
“Is my Luna chasing me away?” He smirked mischievously.
His Luna? I touched my cheeks lightly feeling blood rush to it,
“Before I leave. I’d like us to do something.” He continued, his voice low and serious.
“What?” I breathed out.
“You have your wolf now and she’s getting stronger, so I need us to connect; I need to connect with you,”
His eyes locked unto mine and I could feel my heart race kick up at his words.
“You mean a mind link? I asked, my voice barely above a whisper
“Yes. You’re my Luna and I need to know when you’re in danger or if we have something private to say amid people.”
My gaze searched his and I could feel my heart bursting with unfamiliar tingling.
When I was with Felix and Willow, neither bothered to ask for permission before they invaded my thoughts.
Ivan’s respect for my boundaries sent butterflies through me.
“May I enter your mind?” He prodded gently, his blue gaze not leaving mine.
I nodded gently and shut my eyes.
With a gentle touch of my fingers, his mind brushed against mine. I felt an unfamiliar rush of my mind barrier dissolving and a calm voice floated into me.
“Hello, my name is Silver, Ivan’s wolf.”
I smiled gently at his words and let Kira reply to him.
“Hi, I’m Kira, Mallory’s wolf.”
I opened my eyes and caught Ivan staring at me with an intensity that sent shivers through me.
“That felt good,” I remarked, taking my fingers and pushing unruly hairs out of my face.
“Yes. So you can talk to me whenever and wherever.”
I nodded gently just as Kelvin burst through the door to remind van of their departure.
I walked him out and waved goodbye to their speeding car, feeling my chest tighten as they drifted further out of sight.
The pack has been running smoothly without the presence of an or his beta, Kelvin.
I made rounds through the clinic wards, checking the patients alongside the doctor and throwing tight–lipped smiles at
everyone.

The job of a Luna wasn’t too complicated, but, at the same time, it wasn’t an easy thing and I discovered my actions were mirrored by the pack members.
There has been an increase in medical volunteers since I joined. Most of them consisted of the recent additions of werewolves to our pack.
“Hey. How’s it going?” Ivan mindlinked me.
“Smoothly. It’s like you never left.
“As it should be.” He replied smugly, prompting a chuckle from he
“We just arrived at Pixie Forest.” He added.
“Thank the moon goddess.” I paused as I sighted the head of the warrior soldiers, walking towards me.
“I have to go now. A patient needs my attention.” I replied and shut off the mind link.
“Luna Evie, we have a situation” The guard announced as he reached me.
Ohh gosh! I hope it wasn’t serious. I was still learning the ropes of being a Luna and having responsibilities.
“What’s the matter?” I demanded, walking out of the clinic.
“We need to go to the dungeons. There’s something you must see. He replied, panic evident in his voice.
We walked hastily towards the dimly lit dungeons and a flashlight was lit towards the cells. They were empty.
“The prisoners from the Moonshade pack escaped. He revealed
“What? How? When?”
This was bad.
“We believe it happened last night, and that’s not all,” he added, leading me into one of the cells and shining the light he carried on the wall.
“They left a message.”

I felt dizzy with fear as my eyes scanned the message left behind by the prisoners.
“The edge dwellers are coming!”
