Chapter 20
**Mallory**
The moon was hidden by black clouds, making the sky darker than usual and signaling a downpour.
I shivered as I perched at the edge of my seat, my whole senses alert at any unfamiliar sound
The message left by the prisoners of the Moonshade pack left me shaken all day. I sent a message to Alpha Tommen, telling him of their escape and also a possible invasion of Ravenwood pack,
There has been no response and I could only assume he hasn’t received the message or choose to ignore it.
“Luna Evie, all the preparations are complete,” the warrior head informed me.
“Well done. Get to your position and make sure the rest of the soldiers and members comply.
How about the new werewolves?”
The main target of the edge dwellers was the newly admitted wolves to our pack, who attacked them and would be the first hit when or if they ended up coming.
They’ve been moved to the safe house and under strict surveillance Luna.”
I nodded gently, my mind not calming down even with all the precautions out in place.
“Shouldn’t we inform the Alpha about this?” He inquired, making me shoot an upset look at him.
“Don’t inform the Alpha. No one should inform him,” I reiterated. “Not even Kelvin, his beta.
He’s occupied with something important, and we’ve put measures in place to hold them off.”
He bowed low and excused himself to relay the message to the rest of the soldiers and pack members.
I know what you’re thinking. Why won’t I inform Ivan right?
The truth is I want to handle something on my own and show how tough I can be.
The reason Felix cast me aside and picked Willow was because I was weak, had a weak wolf, was bad at fighting and was low
in status.
But here, I had the second highest status. Kira was getting stronger by the day, and I was respected by everyone, could show everyone I was capable of leading, even in the absence of their Alpha.
A now I
Since Kira woke up, I have also been taking fighting classes, joining the soldiers to train and also building up my engaging in exercises.
Now was the time to test my abilities.
“Luna,” Maya’s soothing voice broke through my thoughts.
She walked in wheeling a trolley loaded with teacups, a teapot and biscuits
“Yes. Is anything the matter?” I asked, preferring to remain in silence and plan my moves.
“No. You missed dinner so I brought some snacks.
You should eat something”

Chapter 201
“I’m not hungry Maya,” + sighed, reaching for my leather boots te feel my poisoned dagger strapped to it.
“Let me at least pour you a cup of tea,” she answered, dropping tea bag into a cup and pouring hot water over it,
She topped it off with two cubes of sugar and a teaspoon of milk just how I Like it.
“Thank you.” I murmured, taking a sip of the drink and letting the warm liquid spread through my chest.
The pitter patter of rain heightened my senses, sending goosebumps appearing on my arms.
The gloomy weather did nothing to calm my beating heart and further dimmed up the atmosphere.
I brought the cup nearer and sniffed it, but it did nothing to calm my erratic heart.
Could I pull this off?
“Maybe I should tell Ivan about it,” I mused to myself, fiddling with my already cold tea
The loud ringing of the pack’s bell burst through my consciousness, making me drop the teacup to the floor.
They’re here!
I hastened outside and caught sight of a house by the edge of the pack in flames.
The flame seemed to burn brighter, not bothered by the heavy downpour.
“Where are they?” I demanded as the head warrior ran up to me.
They broke through the trap in the south zone, the warriors stationed there are holding them back.” He cried out above the cacophony of the downpour.
“Head to the east gate and check on the warriors holding iL
If it still stands, hurry back and assist me in holding them off from the safe house,” I ordered, freeing my dagger from my boots and hurrying towards the safe house.
The surroundings were peaceful and bore no sign of intruders or unrest
I walked around the house, my breathing low and my dagger clutched firmly in my hand.
I could perceive an unfamiliar scent and stalked gently towards the source.
My claws grew out, and I changed my eye color to Kira to enable me to see clearly in the dark.
I caught sight of an edge dweller crouched in the bushes surrounding the safe house.
He was a lookout.
I crept upon him slowly, keeping my breathing level.
As I got close enough to strike him, he turned suddenly, aware of my presence and raised a sharp claw in defence, shifting quickly to his wolf.
“Too slow,” I mused as my poisoned dagger plunged straight into his heart, halting his claws mid–air.
The successful kill did nothing to calm my raging heart and an unconscious plea rang out in my heart.
“Ivan, help don’t know if i can do this,”

Chapter 20
I wiped the blood stain off my dagger with his fur and checked behind the bushes for more edge dwellers but found none.
Using the bushes as cover I hurried back to the Alpha Den, scanning the environment for intruders.
My eyes caught the head warrior fighting off a wolf. He shifted into his form and dug sharp teeth into the edge dweller’s neck.shaking it vigorously, tearing away the head from the body,
Attaboy! We’re doing this. I was doing this.
Maybe I didn’t need to call Ivan after all.
Socing no other intruder, 4 crouched around the corners of the Den and entered.
I haven’t seen Maya since she served me and I was begining to g worried.
“Maya!” I hollered, but my voice was met with silence.
The rain had cut off power, throwing the Den into a suffocating arkness.
I ran through each of the rooms, seeing them empty and no sign of Maya.
Fear gradually crept into me. What if she was attacked?
The guards stationed around the house have previously been sent to assist in holding back the south wing.
“You need to let Ivan know, Mal.” Kira’s voice called out softly, “something isn’t right.”
“Yes, I feel it too goosebumps rose on my arms and I walked further into the house. I had the feeling something was waiting for me at the end of the halls.
“Ivan Please answer me.”
As I turned the comer, the hairs on my body stood up. The hallway stretched out before me, eerily silent.
Suddenly, the door of the den slammed open, and at the end, a large, snarling werewolf with red eyes.
It was a rogue.
I felt my feet wobble, making me stumble slightly as I grabbed the dagger in my hand tightly, my mind racing with at solution.
“Ivan?” I was met with silence again.
I have to do this myself.
My face went pale as my eyes remained glued to the rogue’s red ones, and I shifted, my manicured fingernails giving way to my sharp, curved claws.
The wolf walked forward slowly, its large 5ft body taking up space in the hall and its long claws dragging against the floorboards, making a terrifying screeching sound.
“Iyan, if you’re there, help me. We’re under attack,”
The claw clutching the dagger seemed t
o freeze up and my breathing turned rapid.
I can’t do this…please help…
