I walked out of Mallory’s bedroom and straight to my office, my ears felt hot. I could feel steam pouring out of them.
It took everything in my power not to strangle Kelvin for barging in and reserved the explosion in me for Moonshade Pack.
“Where are the edge dwellers?” I grunted.
“Tied to stakes at the training ground. Once the meeting with Alpha Tommen is done, their trial will begin.” He replied.
I stepped into the office, my eyes blazing once they set on Alpha Tommen sitting comfortably in my large furnished office and chatting animatedly with his beta.
“I don’t think you got the memo, Tommen, but this isn’t a friendly invite,” I answered as I walked in.
He straightened up uncomfortably in his seat but didn’t stand.
His beta hurried out of the chair and walked to stand next to Kelvin.
I walked over to the drink cabinet and considered pouring myself a scotch but settled for water instead.
“Your pack members invaded my pack. Again.
I’m sure you’re aware of that as my wife sent a message after seeing the threat left by them and also sent another message two days after.” I began, taking my seat and taking a sip of water.
The coolness of the water, gradually dousing the heat that had risen in me.
He cleared his throat and adjusted uncomfortably in his seat.
“The invasion of the edge dwellers staying in my pack has nothing to do with me or the rest of my pack.
They acted on their own and for their reasons.
We’ve rounded up the ones left in the pack and interrogated them but they still stuck to their story of needing more room to expand.” He answered.
“That’s bullshit!” I spat.
“We believe so too, Alpha Ivan, but they all maintained the same story even after we separated each of them.”
I took another sip of my drink, silently brooding. I kept my eyes on Tommen, searching for the tell–tale signs of a liar. There
was none.
“Whether the invasion was carried out with my knowledge or not, it still doesn’t change the fact that they live in my pack, and so I am responsible for them.
The invasion also led to you almost losing your life and your Luna. I greatly apologize.”
He stood up and
gave a low bow to me which was a big respect given we were the same level of Alphas.
He continued after receiving a slight nod from me.
“As compensation, the edge dwellers are going to be tried in your pack and will be given whatever punishment you deem fit.
We also offer a compensation of Fifty million dollars to your pack for damages caused and to the victims.”

I scoffed at his words.

“Your pack members caused emotional, physical and psychological damage to my Luna. How do you intend to compensate for that?” I asked dryly.
“Look at you being a caring husband,” Silver’s mocking voice floated to me.
“Pipe down!” I retorted.
His eyes darted away and he forced a cough.
“I’d like to give a formal apology to Luna Evie. No amount of words or money could redeem the acts of the edge dwellers.”
“Good answer. If he had doubled the money or muttered something stupid, he may not leave the pack without a ghastly scar.” I muttered to myself.
I stood up from my seat and walked to the table, poured a drink and handed it to him.
“Make yourself comfortable. The trial will begin soon.” I remarked, leaving him in the company of a soldier.
Kelvin and I walked to the training ground. The ground was dyed red from the blood constantly dripping from the edge dwellers who were strung to high poles.
The leader, the largest of them, was hung in the middle, his face more battered and bruised than the rest.
“Give him some water,” I instructed a guard stationed around them.
A painful cough rang out from the edge dweller’s throat as the water hit his parched throat.
He shot a fearful look at me, a look of surprise crossing his face.
“As you can see, I’m not dead. Must be a bummer for you.” I commented, seeing his reaction.
He said nothing and kept his head down, avoiding my gaze.
The stage for the trial was being set up, and I walked up to the shed next to the training ground.
“Bring my toolbox,” I instructed Kelvin, who wheeled up an iron trolley.
He opened it up, and an assortment of torture weapons came into view.
Of all my Alpha duties, I disliked torturing the most and left it for the head warriors to carry out.
It was messy, and the screams rang in my head for days, but this was necessary.
Someone was targeting me, my pack and Mallory and I needed to find out who,
If it turns out to be Felix then my suspicions will all be confirmed.
I picked up the necessary weapons I needed and changed out of my hoodie and sweatpants to a leader jacket and boots, my
hair slicked back.
The trial soon began, and Mallory arrived with her maid, Maya, in tow.
She took a seat next to me and I suddenly wished she wasn’t here to see the ugliness that was about to go down.
“You don’t need to be here, Mal, it’s going to get messy,” I whispered to her.
She shook her head defiantly, her eyes not meeting mine.“1 want to be here. I can handle it. She shot back.

Chapter 26
Trials in the Ravenwood pack were different from regular trials.
If the offender showed signs of concealing something crucial, torture was going to be used to extract the information.
Tommen walked in with his beta and took a seat next to the stage. The rest of the spectators were soldiers and elders as normal pack members weren’t allowed to participate in the trial

The leader of the edge dwellers was brought in limping and blood leaking from his lips, mixing with saliva and dripping onto the ground.
I looked at Mallory and saw she didn’t appear fazed by the sight.
I walked forward, not bothering with the usual pleasantries, and got right to business.
“Who ordered the attack on Ravenwood pack?” I asked, my voice mellow.
“N–no one. We acted on our own,” the edge dweller answered in a barely audible voice.
“How was the poison, Vile Moss procured and who was it intended for?” I thundered, my mind going over how Mallory would have been infected if I didn’t show up when I did.
“We aren’t aware of a poison, neither did we attempt to poison anyone.”
A low chuckle sounded in my throat and I picked up one of the torture weapons. A plier.
As I walked forward, a guard ran up to me and held out the edge dweller’s hand.
Panic and fear crept into his eyes as the realization of what was about to go down dawned on him.
“W–what are you doing? I told the truth!” He cried out.
“Not what I want to hear.” I shot back and hooked the pliers on his fingernails, twisting them slowly.
A painful cry echoed through the training ground, sending the birds running.
“Please..please… stop..ahh,”
I paid no heed to his pleas and went on with twisting.
A fingernail fell out, leaving a bloodied skin in place. I hooked the plier to the next and started twisting.
“Please…. I’ll confess…I’ll tell you everything,” he wailed loudly.
I stopped twisting, still keeping the plier on his fingernails.
His cries piped down to a low whimper, and I allowed him to catch his breath before he spoke.
For a big wolf, I expected him to put up more of a fight.
“We were instructed to attack the Ravenwood pack, poison your Luna and kill you,” he said.
I felt my breath catch and my eyes found Mallory where she sat
Shork was evident on her features and her eyes watered when they met mine.
He continued. “I was given an unfamiliar substance to apply on my claws when attacking.”
I released the pliers from his nails and stood in front of him, my hard gaze piercing his shaky eyes.

“By whom? Who instructed you to attack
my pack?”
I asked the question burning in me.
“We never saw the stranger’s face, but his coat had a raven emblem.”
The raven was the emblem of Raven wood Pack.
