Chapter 27
Cat Mendoza:–
“You are not going anywhere, Cat.” Alexander growls from the couch where he was sitting with Laila,trying to comfort her “I brought you here, I will take you back to your home.”
“I am sorry, Alexander. I don’t take orders and I didn’t ask you if can leave or stay. I only asked you to ask your driver to drop me at the airport, not asked you to make a demand or anything. Your daughter needs you. Stay with her. I don’t want to be a burden on anyone. If you won’t ask your driver, than I can always take a cab and go by myself.”
“You will do no such thing.” he spoke in stern tone, glaring at me, telling me with his eyes not to provoke or challenge him but I just rolled my eyes and stormed out of Laila’s apartment. I wanted Laila to see that I dislike her father so she doesn’t get suspicious about Alexander and me.
I wanted Alexander to tell Laila about the baby because the longer we keep this a secret, the longer she is going to be hurt or who knows begin to hate not just me, but Alexander too and I don’t want that, because I have seen how much Alexander loves his daughter and worry for her. No, I can’t come in between them.
Not now. Not ever. I will just suggest Alexander about the co–parenting thing. Apart from that, we won’t have any relation and as much as I want Laila to know about this, I know it is not the right time, especially when she is grieving for loss of her own baby.
I stepped out of the building and took a deep breath when the fresh air hit my face and the soft music playing around calmed me down. I was taking a moment to myself when I heard the familiar voice of a man. A man I didn’t want to see.
“Cat? Is that really you?!” came Jericho’s voice and I rolled my eyes as I turned around to glare at him. I thought I would be calm, but seeing Laila in pain in her apartment, and all she is going through because of him, he has the audicity to break off with her after using her? No, I won’t tolerate this.
“You fucking lying cheating scumbag!” I bellowed as I landed a hard slap on his face, taking him by surprise as he placed his finger on the cheek where it sting “How could you? How could you do this to her when she needs you the most? How can you walk out of her life after what she did for you?
She fucking loved you. Betrayed me for you, lost the baby. Lost the trust of her father and so much worse and yet you stand over here as if you are the one who is victim and in pain? I tolerated what you did to me, with my best friend but I won’t tolerate you doing the same thing with her and that is breaking her heart and giving her pain.”
“Cat, please listen to me…I don’t love Laila….I made a mistake and when you left me, I realized it has alway been you. I love you, Cat….please….” at that moment out of nowhere Jericho was punched right on his face by none other than Alexander who looked furious, his eyes blood shot with rage.
“How could you do this to my daughter?! I am going to kill you!” Alexander barks out in anger that his voice echoed around the surrounding, causing the pass by people look at the scene with attention.
Jericho had no time to speak as Alexander quickly grabbed him by the collar and got him off the ground. His voice was a barely audible threatening growl of a protective father who can’t see his child hurt in anyway.
“So, you really believe that you can manipulate my daughter’s life like it is a game and then disappear as if nothing happened!? You destroyed her, you bastard!” Alexander growled and punched Jericho as if he was a ragdoll.
Jericho frowned and put his hands up, clearly terrified. “Mr. Winters, wait! I can explain-”
“Explain?” Alexander growled, clenching his hand more. “There’s nothing to explain! You used her, you made her to understand that there is a future for her with you, and then you left when she needed you.

You didn’t just use her, you made her betray the only person who really care about her. You didn’t just use my daughter but Cat too, who is nothing but innocent and pure. And, now that you have dumped Laila, you really think you can get back to Cat’s life? No! Because I won’t let that happen. I am going to protect both of them from you and every other person that tries to harm them.
You think you are man and strong one at that? You are nothing but such a coward and fucking disgrace who shouldn’t be allowed to live, but I respect law which is why I am going to let you go this time but I swear if I ever see you around both of them, than I will forget about everything and kill you myself. Do you understand?”
I stand rooted watching the transformation in Alexander gradually as he becomes more angry. His hands became white as he tried to push Jericho head first against the brick enclosing the building. The noise echoed in the cold air and some people around glanced and immediately flich back away as they felt the situation was tense.
Jericho gasped, struggling against Alexander who kept grabbing at his shirt. “I made a mistake, alright?! I was still puzzled and in fact I did not know how to handle the situation. Laila…she was just too much to-”
Before he could get that out Alexander was able to land another punch to his stomach which made Jericho doubled over.
“Too much?” Alexander spat the words out, there was hatred in his tone. “She gave you everything, you worthless piece of trash. She cared for you, she trusted you and you left her once you got the chance? You’re lucky I am not ending your pathetic life right here.”
Jericho coughed heavily as if his breath was being choked out of him. “I didn’t mean for it to happen like this!‘ I—”
“Shut up!” Alexander yelled, followed by moving closer to her. The only thing you’re going to do now is stay the hell away from my daughter and Cat. If I ever see you near them again I will personally guarantee that you regret the day you were born.”
“Alexander,” I could finally speak as I approached him and placed my hand on his shoulder to calm the angry beast down “Stop. He’s not worth it.”
Alexander looked at me with anger burning in his eyes and his breathing got heavier. I half expected him not to listen to me, but instead he let go of Jericho, who collapsed onto the floor and asked me.
“Are you okay?” he asked concerned “He didn’t do anything to you, right?”
“Apart from telling me he loves me, after dumping me once for Laila and now Laila for me, or it is what he claims, then yes, I am okay.” I asnwered with a giggle.
“What the hell, Cat? Are you trying to get me killed over here? Jericho growls as he stood up groaning in pain, glaring at me, but whe he saw Alexander’s expression he turned around and ran away as fast as he could as if his ass was on fire.
I sighed a long sigh that I did not know I possessed, then looked at Alexander. “You didn’t have to go that far,” I voice quietly and honestly I couldn’t help but happy to see Jericho being punished for his actions.
Alexander looked up, his large stature making him seem much taller than my small frame. “Yes I did and I won’t hesitate to do that again.” he replied with lot of emphasis and anger was still oozing out of him.
“Any man who tries to lay a finger on my daughter, or you, will regret his action. You, Laila and this baby of ours means everything to me.”
The things he said to me were making my heart race, yet I briskly dismissed the feeling. “Laila’s already broken because of him. What if she gets to know about this?”
“She won’t,” he responded and smiled reassuring me in a way that only he could. “This stays between us. Laila doesn’t want any more pain at the present time. She needs time to heal.”

Chapter 27
I nodded, looking in the beaten Jericho’s direction. “Well, do you believe that he will stay away from Laila?”
Alexander simply grinned wickedly, a sinister look in his black irises. “Well, if he knows what is best for him, he will.”
I finally heaved a deep breathe, unaware that I was probably stressing for hours. Alexander extended his hand, softly wiping the last tear on my face.
“You’re shaking,” he whispered “Let’s get out of here. You need to rest.”
“Alexander…” I tried to say something about it and he shushed me.
“No arguments, Cat,” he said firmly “You are coming to stay with me in my presidential suite. I told you that I will strip you naked as we have so much making up to do and I promised you the tour of Italy, so we need to get down to that.”
“But what about Laila? We can’t leave her alone!” I gasped.
“She is going to be fine. That housekeeper is like a mother to her, and besides I have arranged my bodyguards to keep an eye on her and keep me updated. She just needs to be alone right now. Cat. She needs space so let’s give her what she wants. Okay?”
“I guess.”
