Chapter 198
On the weekend, Yasmine had the day off work and whipped up a simple breakfast of toast and eggs. Just as she was about to take her first bite, a loud banging on the door interrupted her. She hurried to open it and saw Lucy, her eyes red and swollen, rush in and embrace her, bursting into
team.
“Yasmine..” Lucy’s voice was still shaky, hinting that something major had happened.
Yasmine gently patted Lucy’s back. “What happened, Lucy! Take your time and tell me.”
Aher a long while, Lucy stood up, her face streaked with tears. “Yasmine, my dad… he had a car accident.”
“What? How is Uncle Donovan now? Did he go to the hospital” Yasmine asked urgently, looking at Lucy with concern.
Lucy said. “My dad is okay, his car just crashed into another. He’s fine, but someone in the other vehicle hit their head on the airbag, causing nerve issues. You know, that person’s family company is my dad’s business rival. We were in peace before, but now they’re going all out to bring us down,”
Lucy sniffled as she spoke, “Our family always made more superior parts than theirs, but now our factories are suddenly having accidents. Someone’s been setting fires in different factories. My dad had already secured a big contract before the accident, and if we can’t complete it, we’ll lose everything.”
Yasmine, taken aback by how serious things had gotten, suggested, “Can’t you get more people to keep an eye on the factories?”
Lucy picked up a cup of coffee from the table, finished it in one gulp, and continued, “Of course, there is. My dad has already sent lots of security to patrol the factory, but it’s no use. The Lutz family is determined to go against us.”
“Who are they!”
“It’s the Lutz family.”
Yasmine knew what business Donovan was involved in. In Soucrity, besides the Lynch family, only the Lutz Family was in the same business. If progress kept getting delayed, even if Donovan wanted to find another factory, it would be impossible. What puzzled her was, even if the Lutz family succeeded in bringing the Lynch residence down, they wouldn’t gain much. It was a lose lose situation–hurting the enemy a thousand, self- harming eight hundred. Was it just for revenge?
Maybe noticing her confusion. Lucy continued, “The Lutz family has had only one child per generation, and the one in–life son, who was pampered like royalty. But you can’t blame my dad; it was because he was racing that he got into the accident. No wonder, with ne who got hit was Finnian’s late- their only son becoming impaired, the Lutz family was livid. Wiping her tears, Lucy looked pleadingly at Yasmine, “Yasmine, please help me.”
“Lucy, don’t rush, take your time,” she said, patting Laicy’s hand comfortingly.
“I went to see Finnian, and I told him I know an excellent psychologist who could treat his son. Finnian said that as long as his son recovers, he won’t target the Lynch family anymore, Lucy explained.
Yasmine slightly furrowed her brows, “But didn’t he injure his brain nerves?”
“No, Finnian had already brought in a top–notch neurology team to treat him. Now it’s a psychological issue, Lucy said, her eyes welling up with tears again.
