“Okay.” Chuck hastily left, as if he couldn’t escape fast enough, while Lucy watched him flee with a hint of hurt in her eyes.
“Lucy, did something happen between you two again?” Yasmine asked.
Lucy shook her head, unwilling to talk. How could she possibly bring up what happened with Chuck the night before last when they were drunk at the bar?
The dishes hadn’t been served yet, but Chuck placed a bowl of soup in front of Lucy. “Drink this.”
Lucy looked down and saw it was ginger tea. “I don’t want it,” she murmured.
Chuck nudged the soup back towards her. “You have to finish it.”
As the two of them went back and forth, Yasmine knew exactly what was happening and covered her mouth, giggling. Morgan, of course, noticed as well and offered, “Why don’t you finish cooking and then sit with us to eat?”
“No way!” Chuck and Lucy exclaimed simultaneously to Morgan
Once all the dishes were served, Chuck glanced at Lucy and said “Come here for a moment, I’ve got something for you.” Though puzzled, Lucy still obediently stood up and followed him.
In Chuck’s lounge, because he’s a top chef, it closely resembles a suite at a hotel.
Lucy stood at the door, reluctant to go in. “What do you want to give me?”
“How can I give it to you if you won’t come in?” Chuck replied.

Lucy finally stepped inside, and as she did, Chuck slammed the door shut and pinned her against the wall. “Why did you run away that day?” Chuck asked, his breath heavy, as if trying to suppress his
anger.
“I…” That day, Chuck was brewing traditional medicine in the kitchen for Lucy. The sound of him slicing ginger made her restless. The events of that night were still fresh in her mind. Why did they end up in bed again? As she watched Chuck’s back in the kitchen, she couldn’t tell if she liked it or not, but her racing heart couldn’t lie. In a panic, she hobbled out of Chuck’s house.
“Answer me.” Chuck’s eyes were bloodshot.
Lucy avoided his gaze and stuttered, “Afraid.”
“Afraid?” Chuck squinted, never expecting
reason. “Afraid of what?”
“Afraid of liking you,” Lucy replied.
Chuck’s breath hitched. He couldn’t quite put his feelings into words; his heart was racing. “Why are you afraid of that?”

Yasmine and Morgan were savoring the food in front of them. “Morgan, do you think those two will end up together?” “Hard to say, one keeps avoiding, the other doesn’t dare to speak up,” Morgan said calmly,
“When I told you at the auction that Yonas gave me the plan, you didn’t seem surprised, nor did you strongly oppose me meeting him again.”
Morgan said expressionlessly, “Do I even need to stop you two now? I can tell how things are going.”
Yasmine gave a bitter smile, “You were right back then, I should have listened to you. Irene suits him better.” Ambitious, decisive, and strategic, she jumps into things without hesitation, making her a great asset to Yonas’s career.

“No one’s perfect from the start. I only held you back to protect you from getting hurt,” Morgan said. Having been through pain once, it’s a lesson to be cautious. But Morgan kept this last thought to himself.
“Morgan, can I have a small section of Misty Evergreen Isle? Just a tiny portion on the vacation island,” Yasmine requested.
Morgan looked at her, puzzled, “Sure, what are you planning?”
“It’s a secret for now,” Yasmine said with a smile.
“We only got Misty Evergreen Isle thanks to you, and the Sanchez Group is also yours. You can do whatever you want,” Morgan said with a smile. He never once thought of taking his sister’s property for himself; he merely managed it for her.
