“No,” Nyx immediately shook her head, denying it.
Although Kai did bring her some trouble, the leopard at that time had no rationality and didn’t truly harm her. He only occasionally let his wild nature show and frightened her unintentionally.
The fact that the leopard had come to deliver gifts to her every day showed that he bore her no ill will.
Nyx led Kai to see the pile of prey she had saved. “It’s these, take them all with you.”
The neatly arranged prey before him made Kai’s heart tremble. Although he had lost his memory of the time when he was out of control, an image of a highly aggressive leopard, carrying bloody prey to intimidate Nyx, flashed in his mind.
Any female who had been subjected to such terror would naturally develop a deep aversion to such rude males. Judging by the amount of prey, he had probably been harassing Nyx for a long time.
Nyx must have been forcing herself to tolerate her hatred and fear, visiting him time after time and trying to persuade him, simply hoping he would survive.

Kai couldn’t bear to think further. He collapsed to his knees at Nyx’s feet, lost and soul–crushed. In the past, he had endured countless punishments, which he detested and resented. But now, he genuinely wanted to be punished.
Even though Nyx had said she didn’t want to pursue the matter, Kai still refused to rise. Nyx looked at her guardians for help.
Upon receiving her look for help, Felix stepped forward, his long arm reaching out to forcibly pull Kai up. “Come on, I’ve been wanting to spar with you for a while now.”
Not only Felix, but Theon and Zayne were also ready for action. Nyx hadn’t expected things to develop this way. She worriedly wanted to intervene but was held back by Aurelius.
“Nyx, it’s fine. They know what they’re doing,” Aurelius said, holding her waist and pulling her into his arms, secretly enjoying the scent of her.
He was worried Nyx might soften and allow Kai to stay close to her, so he softly added, “The diplomatic department has been waiting for Kai to return. Marshal Lane won’t go too hard on him, and he’ll be allowed to rest and heal.”
Hearing this, Nyx understood. Even if Aurelius hadn’t said anything, she wouldn’t agree to have Kai act as her bodyguard. That just wasn’t appropriate.
Aurelius’s words only strengthened her resolve. With his goal easily achieved, Aurelius smiled in satisfaction. Although Kai didn’t seem very competitive, it was always better to have fewer rivals.
The sparring place Felix had chosen was by the destroyed chair in the garden.
“A fair spar. You don’t need to hold back,” Felix said, rotating his wrist and speaking coldly.
Kai lowered his head, silent, giving no response. It seemed like he silently agreed.
Felix threw a punch. His speed wasn’t fast. This punch was just a reminder to Kai that the fight had begun.
Kai could have easily dodged or blocked it, but he stood still and took the blow.

“You can fight back,” Felix frowned. Even after Felix reminded him again, Kai remained unmoving, seemingly having made up his mind not to fight back, silently enduring.
Felix didn’t hesitate and struck him again. This punch was heavier. If it weren’t for Kai being a highly resilient SS–level male, he would have collapsed after this hit.
He took several deep breaths, straightened his body, and prepared for the next wave of pain.
Even though Aurelius had been clinging to and comforting her, after about ten minutes, Nyx couldn’t wait any longer. Just as she was about to get up and look for someone, the three guardians finally returned, but Kai was nowhere to be seen.
In an instant, Nyx’s first thought was that Kai had been severely injured, and her second thought was that he had lost control again. Seeing her panicked expression, Felix comforted her by gently touching her face. “He’s fine, he’s already left.”
Considering that the leopard’s previous actions were due to losing control, and his remorseful attitude was somewhat decent, the guardians only gave Kai two punches as a lesson before moving on and closing the matter.
Zayne had originally planned to treat Kai, but Kai refused. He left in a hurry, even without saying goodbye to Nyx.
He seemed so ashamed that he couldn’t bring himself to appear before Nyx again, nor could he ever mention staying by her side for protection again.

He was still wearing a robe but wasn’t sitting in a wheelchair. It seemed that some prosthetics had been installed under his robe, allowing him to move freely. He quietly sat next to Nyx, their gazes meeting.
