Theon turned his head and saw them just in time–cold sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.
He was nearly at his wit’s end and shouted for Felix to come help.
Felix appeared at the sound of the call, only to find two fluffy cubs raising their tiny paws, about to scratch at Nyx’s bedroom door.
He rushed over at lightning speed, scooping up one in each hand.
The usually quiet cubs were anything but silent now, crying out loudly for their mother.
Fortunately, the room was soundproof enough that their calls wouldn’t be heard inside.
“Alright, let’s eat first, Felix coaxed them. “Mommy will play with you tomorrow.”
Just as he finished reassuring them, a faint voice drifted out from inside the room.

The cubs couldn’t understand the deeper meaning of the sounds, but they could tell Nyx was crying.

Inside the room, Nyx had no idea about the chaos happening outside. She had no mental space to spare for anything else.
Suddenly, her eyes were gently covered by a hand, and she heard Zayne’s soft laughter beside her ear. “No perfume tonight. Let’s play a different game. Guess… who it is?”
