“Is everyone really okay with this?” Calliope asked pensively.
The room was filled with nodding heads.
“Seriously, no objections? This is your chance to speak up. Don’t wait until it’s too late and then start complaining.”
Calliope’s eyes dropped to the silver needle she was twirling between her fingers. The needle caught the light, glinting ominously, and the room fell into a tense silence.
“Alright, if no one’s going to talk, then we’re done here!” Calliope declared, standing up with authority.
Just then, a chorus of gasps erupted. Fingers pointed towards the window, eyes wide with shock. “Wh–What on earth is that?”
“Is that… a helicopter?”
“No way, what is that guy doing?”
“Jeez, is he out of his mind?”
Calliope turned to see what the fuss was about. There, hovering just outside the conference room window, was indeed a helicopter. Dangling precariously from its side was a man, brandishing a megaphone and shouting wildly.
“What’s he yelling about?”
“Who is he?”
“Damn. Is he seriously trying to crash in here?”
The board members were on the verge of panic, the noise of the helicopter blades a deafening roar. Through the glass, it was hard to make out exactly what the man was saying, but his frantic gestures were clear.
Calliope felt her lips twitch as she stood up silently. “I think he’s here for me.”
With that, she stepped towards the window and flung it open, gazing at the man outside. “Lance, what on earth are you doing?”
“Darling, I finally found you!. I’m here for you, I need your help. My dear brother’s had a bit of an accident and only you can fix it!”
Lance bellowed through the megaphone, “Please come with me!”
“Your brother?” Calliope yelled back.
“Yes, my dear brother’s in trouble! You have to save him. Name your price, anything you want, even the whole of JK Group if you wish!”
“JK Group?”
“He he he… he’s the second–in–line successor of the JK Group!”
“What did he mean by that? The heir’s in trouble?”
Now, instead of hiding from the gale–force wind, they craned their necks to get a better look as they heard their conversation, disbelief etched across their faces. The internationally renowned JK Group was a big deal, and here was Lance, imploring Calliope and offering the corporation to her as if it were a batch of freshly baked
cookies.
Another thing they noticed was the way how he addressed Calliope, revealing the closeness between the two.

I’ll go with you. But don’t show up again with a helicopter and a megaphone!”
