Chapter 466
Yvette’s situation was something that could be considered, but the prospects of Gideon didn’t look promising. With a resolute gaze, Calliope declared, “Begging me won’t help, and neither will pleading with Silas. This is something Gideon has to handle himself. If he can surpass Calista in skill, Silas would naturally choose him. But if he can’t measure up, why wouldn’t Silas pick someone as capable as Calista?”
“Calista’s still just a high schooler! What kind of skill could he possibly have? Gideon’s been with the company for years now. He definitely knows it better than Calista, and he’s certainly more skilled!”
Fleur shouted, “You know how amazing Gideon is! Didn’t you like him back then because of his talents?”
Calliope hesitated, and then replied, “It was a huge misunderstanding back then.”
“What?” Fleur cried.
After a brief glance at Fleur, Calliope continued, “I didn’t really know him well. If I had, I wouldn’t have fallen for him. He’s nowhere near as capable as Silas, and not even Calista.”
“Calliope!” Fleur exclaimed, her emotions flaring.
“I’m just speaking the truth,” Calliope said. “Skill isn’t something you can just claim; he simply doesn’t measure
up.”
Fleur wanted to lash out, but she held back. She still needed Calliope’s help after all. Thinking of the long game, she decided to keep her temper in check. Once she was in Calliope’s good graces, she’d surely lend a hand.
Taking a deep breath, Fleur said, “Callie, you really got the wrong impression of Gideon. He still cares about you, you know. If it wasn’t for Yvette interfering, maybe you’d still be Gideon’s wife.”
“That would never happen,” Calliope said, shaking her head.
Fleur’s expression shifted. “There’s always a chance.”
“Enough about that. Regarding Yvette, I’ve got some advice and a few herbal remedies. You can mix these herbs yourself; some are for her to take orally, and others for herbal baths. She needs at least a month of these baths to recover. Follow my instructions, and there should be no intimacy for two months. Once her health is restored, you can focus on preparing for pregnancy,” Calliope instructed Fleur.
“Alright, tell me everything. I’ll write it down,” Fleur said, nodding eagerly. “No matter what, getting her pregnant is the priority.”
Calliope looked at Fleur, puzzled by her contradictory behavior. Fleur didn’t like Yvette, yet was desperate for her to have a child.
“Is having a child that important to you?”
“Of course! That would be my grandchild. I don’t care if Yvette’s difficult; a grandchild is all that matters! She’s a handful now, but I can’t let anyone else have a child.”
Fleur spoke with determination, “She must give us a child. Her duty is to bear children for our family.”
Calliope foresaw a tough road ahead for Yvette. The herbal remedies she prescribed were notoriously bitter, and Yvette would need to take them three times a day.
If she didn’t conceive, Fleur would relentlessly push for more treatments, never letting her off the hook. Yvette thought she had married into wealth and elevated her social status, but she had no idea her life was about to become much more miserable.
