Chapter 481
At the Myers Manor,
Silas listened as the call abruptly disconnected, leaving him with a sinking feeling in his stomach. His face turned pale as he realized something was terribly wrong.
Without wasting a moment, he headed out of the house, clutching his phone tightly. He was too anxious to call Calliope back, fearing he might distract her while she was driving.
Instead, he gathered Damien and his crew. They had been winding down for the night, so Silas’s sudden summons took them by surprise.
“Mr. Myers, is something wrong?” Damien asked, a hint of concern in his voice.
It wasn’t like Silas to call for them at night unless it was urgent. Typically, any tasks would be assigned during the day. The fact that he needed them now signaled something serlous was happening.
Damien and his group were Silas’s most loyal team, trained and trusted implicitly. As they sensed the gravity of the situation, their expressions grew serious.
“Calliope’s in trouble,” Silas announced, his voice tinged with worry. “She’s being followed on her way home!”
“What!” Damien exclaimed, disbelief etched on his face. “Who would dare mess with our lady? Are they out of their minds?”
“Let’s go get her!” one of the men shouted, his urgency echoed by the others.
“Yeah, we need to make sure she’s safe!” another chimed in.
But then, they all paused, realization dawning on them. Calliope was no damsel in distress. Did she really need their help?
Damien glanced at Silas, sensing his unease. “Mr. Myers, don’t worry too much. Calliope’s tough as nails. If anything, those following her are the ones in danger.”
They had all seen her in action before. She was fearless, capable of taking on challenges head–on.
Even knowing this, Silas couldn’t shake off his concern. He had to make sure she was safe, no matter what.
With determination, he nodded, leading the charge. “We’re going to bring her back.”
Damien and the crew had grown fond of Calliope. She was not only beautiful and kind–hearted but also incredibly competent and approachable. Since she arrived at the manor, everything felt different–in a good way. Having her around brought a sense of warmth and balance to the home.
Without hesitation, they followed Silas out, ready to support in any way they could.
Silas jumped into his car, and the rest piled into theirs, engines roaring to life as they sped into the night. As Silas drove, his mind raced. He pushed the car to its limits, with Damien and the others hot on his tail.
Meanwhile, Calliope was still on the road, initially trying to shake off the car trailing her. But whoever was following her was persistent and skilled, making it difficult for her to lose them.
Realizing this, she decided to slow down, curious about their intentions.
Seizing the opportunity, the pursuing car accelerated, overtaking her before coming to a halt, blocking her path.
With a calm demeanor, Calliope hit the brakes, bringing her car to a smooth stop. Stepping out, she abandoned her original plan of heading home. Now, she wanted answers.
She approached the vehicle ahead, her curiosity piqued. Who were these people, and what did they want?
