Chapter 15
Jax believed that only when he was the victim would others understand the depth of his pain.
If Caspian and I were publicly destroyed, he thought I would crawl back to him.
But he failed to see that this coming storm of revenge wasn’t just about my departure. It was about all the years, all the times people mentioned Caspian whenever he appeared – a reminder of all the frustration and destructive urges that had been building inside him, more intensely than ever.
He took the divorce reality show livestreams and had them edited into a complete, extended “director’s cut.” He released it on a particularly meaningful date.
The day Caspian received his Formula One championship trophy.
Jax posted a single tweet:
“She’s the one who had the affair. We’re divorced.”
The fallout was immediate a social media firestorm.
–
Jax and his manager thought they’d won this round by striking first.
“Daisy’s just an ordinary person, and Caspian? No resources. They’ll never keep up,” the manager said smugly.
The next morning, Jax was trembling with excitement as he reached for his phone, ready to celebrate his victory on Twitter.
Instead, there was a knock at his door.
He and his manager were arrested.
The day I signed the divorce papers, he’d thought I was overcome with grief, searching his phone
just to see how much I’d meant to him.
He never realized I was gathering evidence.
After Vivienne’s provocation on the plane, I’d called my best friend the moment we landed.
“I think Jax has been cooking the books,” I’d said.

My best friend guided me through collecting evidence and filing a report.
Later, she added, “The investigation could take a while. You might as well go all in. He wants you on that stupid reality show? Play his game and lower his guard.”
And so I did.
It started as revenge.
Then I met Caspian. That, I never saw coming.
Jax’s full reality show episode went viral, with every YouTuber and news channel analyzing the
footage.
The internet quickly uncovered the truth: Jax and Vivienne were the ones having the affair – all the timelines and locations aligned perfectly.
My reunion with Caspian had happened after our respective divorces, an unexpected twist of fate.
The day I arrived in Europe, I snuck backstage at the awards ceremony using a staff pass from Caspian’s assistant.
The after–party was in full swing, music thundering.
A racing team principal casually asked Caspian, “Want to make a bet?”
Caspian frowned, covering his ears, and asked impatiently, “On what?”
The man said something in French.
“I’m in,” Caspian replied without hesitation.
He lost and had to face his punishment.
His friends surrounded him, flicking his forehead.
In the dim, purple–lit venue, gold confetti drifted down from above.
Caspian walked toward me, backlit, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
His friends started teasing him.
“No way,” one said, exasperated. “You crashed your car and broke a bone without flinching, but you’re tearing up over some forehead flicks? Seriously?”

Caspian turned away, responding coldly, “Mind your own business.”
Someone raised their eyebrows, nodding toward me at the door, “His rescue squad’s here. Got to play it up for them.”
Caspian immediately pushed through the crowd, making his way to me.
Across the room, our eyes met, and he walked toward me with purpose.
“What was the bet?” I asked softly. “How did you lose?”
“They bet I wouldn’t see my love tomorrow,” he said, voice husky. “I said I wouldn’t and I lost.”
He stood before me and pulled me into a tight embrace.
“I needed to see her today.”
